Wednesday's Words on a Friday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write, a story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along and read it. This month the words are once again supplied by Delores and can be found here . This week's words are: 1. glucose 2. mining 3. spread 4. cadaver 5. intelligence 6. mimic and/or: 1. collate 2. spend 3. decent 4. carpet 5. butterscotch 6. impending Here is my story:  Carrie accidentally knocked over the bottle of butterscotch schnapps and after righting it, sat for a moment dreamily watching the spilled liquid spread across the table surface like a small lake. She dipped her fingers and licked the sweetness a few times before getting  a damp cloth to clean off the mess. Reminding herself to check her glucose meter later, ...

Whimsical Wednesday # 265

Welcome back to Whimsical Wednesday! The day for your googled giggle that gets you over the hump that is Wednesday and sliding down into the weekend. Priorities: Hundreds of years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in,or the kind of car I drove...but the world may be different because I did something so bafflingly crazy that my ruins become a tourist attraction.

Calendar Tuesday

It's Tuesday! February 7th and time again for Calendar Tuesday. First up, Life of Teddy: Happy Valentine's Day Moving on to Violent Veg: Nothing beats a bit of kinky corn and finally, Suzy Toronto: I'd Rather Be the One Who Smiled, Than the One Who Didn't Smile Back and here is what it says:   I'd Rather Be The One Who Smiled ..... Than The One Who Didn't Smile Back Ok, so I admit it. I smile a lot. Anyone within ten feet of me gets one. It just makes me feel good! Now, don't get me wrong: my life is not always overflowing with sunshine. I promise you that I have trials just like everyone. But for me, a smile is my commitment to myself that I am in charge of how I feel. So I choose happiness and joy even on my darkest days. The interesting part is when people don't smile back. Some duck their heads and turn away. Many glance off in another direction. Others actually scowl and look at me like I'm crazy. But isn't it be...

Musical Monday # 138

Image
I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site. I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.  I’ll be finding my clips on you tube , so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist. Today’s clip is:  The Nashville Teens Tobacco Road

Sunday Selections # 313

Welcome back to Sunday Selections. Begun way back in the mist of time by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock and now continued by me, with a drastic relaxation of rules. Originally meant for showcasing old photos lost on your files, never seeing the light of day, the meme has morphed into photos of your choice, new or old, good or not-so-good, anything you please, but nothing rude please. If you are participating, please leave me a comment so I can buzz along and have a look. Elephant's Child always participates, and her pictures are always worth seeing, but EC is currently taking a break , so it's just me and anyone else who chooses to join in. Let's begin with a very laid-back cat: can't get more relaxed than this, Angel is one cool cat 😎 this is the busiest corner of my kitchen, it has the largest available counter space. Being quite deep, it takes a bit of stretch to reach the power point way over on the wall behind the microwave. It's a double outlet, ...

This month the words are supplied by Delores and can be found here . This week's words are: 1. clan 2. hoary 3. pretend 4. sponge 5. destruction 6. bones and/or: 1. blank 2. transient 3. indulge 4. train 5. gooseberries 6. painful Here is my story:  The clan trudged wearily onwards, along a narrow path lined on both sides with thick thistles, hoary with frost. There was no chatter now, no more laughter from the children. No one could even pretend to be happy, the painful sorrow of the destruction had settled into their very bones . The winter earthquake had destroyed everything; as the people grabbed what they could and scram...
