I'm going to make this a regular thing

Last Tuesday I took the day off from blogging, reading blogs, almost a total non-computer day, all I read were my emails, then I shut it down and had the day to myself.

I didn't have any outside appointments, no shopping needed to be done, the laundry was all caught up.
Nothing to do at all.

I slept a lot, read a bit of my book, a bit on the kindle, ate was great.
A whole me day.
I haven't had one of those in a long while.
(I didn't even cook dinner, had a sandwich instead)

So I'm going to do it again.
Next Tuesday.
And every Tuesday.

I should be able to make a sizeable dent in the stack of books on my bedside chest.

  1. Sounds good to me. I've cut way back in my blogging. I get up early and write my rhyme at "It's Rhyme Time" and then I often don't go back online again, Sometimes we make our blogs too much like work

  2. Good for you River!!! A marvellous idea.

  3. Fantastic... "time-out Tuesdays"!

  4. A whole day just for there's a simplification for you.

  5. Blogging is like picking a scab. It gets to be a bad habit. I didn't blog for two weeks due to the flu, then realized I wasn't even thinking about it any more. That thought scared me right back into blogging. Go figure.

  6. Sounds like an excellent plan. Let us know what you read.

  7. Some blogs advertise 'no spend days' and encourage others to do so - 'no blog day' sounds like an idea to join in with!
'Read a book day' sounds even better :)

  8. I think you have your priorities just right for you, River. Tuesday, a nice relaxed day for you.

    Gary :)

  9. Joanne; I think I need this, I'm spending way too much time on the computer.

fishducky; I'll definitely go. Into my own space, doing my own thing, without the computer.

Manzanita; sometimes it is too much like work, trying to think of something to post, a weekly break will help I think. I also have too many blogs to read, but I don't feel I can cut anybody out.

Carol in Cairns; I tried this once before but it didn't work out. I chose a different day this time and it was good.

Vicki; I like that, Time-out Tuesdays. You're so clever.

Delores; the best kind of simplification, doing nothing but recharging the batteries.

lotta joy; blogging is time consuming for sure, and I have the time, but then it runs over into TV watching time, dinner cooking time, hanging the washing time and I find myself getting behind on reading regular books too. Giving up isn't easy, so I chose to do a whole day a week.

Gillie; I wish I could read a book a day like I used to, but I read slower now, it takes me longer to absorb the story. I'm currently reading The Danger by Dick Francis.

Cathy; no blog day is going to be called Time out Tuesday, thanks to Vicki up there^ who came up with the name. I'm not asking others to join in, but of course they can if they want to.

klahanie; I do try to get my priorities in order, I don't multi task as much as I used to, I need time off just for me.

  10. That is a wonderful plan! I try to read 30 minutes a day just so I'm not always on this computer :)

  11. How lovely! Tuesdays are sure to be your favourite day. :-)

  12. betty; I plan to read, but it takes me all day to get through reading and commenting on the blogs on my list.

Cassandra; I think you might be right.

  13. You'll have to come up with a catchy title for this River!

  14. Unplugging is an excellent idea. I don't think we even realize how much we need to do it... until we do!

  15. I love Vicky's suggestion of Time Out Tuesday. I think we all need down time - I savour the time I spend at my internetless cottage, resting, reading and enjoying the bird life. I used to do the same on the boat and it was always so restful.

I read something the other day about people becoming dependent on looking at their computers/phones and some people check them every 10 minutes. That must be tiring.

  16. A plan is fine, of course, but if you are as idle and self-indulgent as me, you grab every opportunity for me-time.

I hope nothing will ever get in the way of your Tuesdays but if it does, think about my version.

  17. Rose~from OZ; it will be Time Out Tuesday, thanks to Vicki's suggestion.

Robin; I find I need more nothing time as I get a bit older, much less of the connected every day thing.

Marie; I don't check things all the time, I think I'd go nuts. Even email is a once or twice a day thing and my phone is often somewhere in the other room. It's the hours on the internet that are becoming too much, because I do things pretty slowly, especially reading.

Friko; I plan to stick with my plan and if it goes well, may extend it to two days a week.

  18. That sounds like a pretty great day.
I quite often have no blog/blog-reading days, and it is always relaxing.

  19. Jackie K; relaxing is my favourite pastime, even better when there is music, books and chocolate involved.
