Musical Monday # 141

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is:  Freddie Cannon

Way Down Yonder (In New Orleans)

    1. Grace; I don't remember any of Freddy's songs apart from this one, so one day I'll spend time at you tube and listen to more of them.

  2. Has been ages since I have heard that song. Takes me back a ways although I couldn't date it on a bet.

    1. S.J.Qualls; I don't know when it was from either, certainly back in the days when the men had short, combed, hair and wore suits.

  3. Boy! That version came out when I was still in high school in 1959. It was first released by Layton & Creamer in 1922! (I wasn't around then)! :)

Have a great week, River. :)

    1. Lee; high school! So you would have danced to it when it played on a jukebox?
      I turned 7 that year.

    3. No jukeboxes in cafes? I guess those came later. I remember seeing a few, but don't remember when. Certainly they weren't as prolific as in the American movies of the time.

    4. I didn't hang around cafes when I was going to high school, River, nor did I hang around them when I left school to being working, either, other than the one my friends ="Patrick's Cafe" - a family run cafe.

I think there was only two places in Gympie in those days that might have had a jukebox..."The Green Door" was one...and the name of the other has slipped my mind. I wasn't allowed to "hang" around those.

  7. Another Monday morning toe tapper. I know the song well but never heard of the artist. Was he the original? Often I hear songs but never pay attention to who sings it.
