Sunday Selections # 733

Image
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us more often.  Beginning today with one reason for the holes in saucepan handles: followed by my two newest coffee mugs: Meg and Jordan Riley and Gillian, all standing up supporting Ukraine  Fly Free, flutter, flap, Stay Free. Please, please be free forever. this is a faded old "fire truck" that usually sits on my front porch with plants in it I decided it needed refreshing, only to find the metal badly rusted almost to the point of di...

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by River and can be found here This week's prompts are:  T'was a hot midsummer's eve and a storm was brewing on the horizon and Lee's photo which I have used at the end. Here is my story, continuing on from last week: As Mum and Rosie oohed and aaahed over various rooms and furnishings, Christopher stayed back a bit with me and asked quietly, ā€œso you do remember the day we met?ā€ ā€œOf course,ā€ I said, ā€œbut I didnā€™t think you would. I was a girl and you were already a man of twenty.ā€ He stru...

I may have shown this one before, it's a garden ornament with a water wheel that spins, it was on a roadside dump and I liked it so now it is mine. this one is for Steve Reed who showed the same poem around the rim of a birdbath. This one was broken and lying in the garden of a unit where the tenant had been taken to live in a nursin...

But itā€™s been twenty years!ā€ Rosieā€™s jaw was also hanging open. ā€œYou two know each other?ā€ she squeaked....

Beginning today with more of R and V's holiday trip: they visited the Kalgoorlie gold mine, also known as The Super Pit I can't quite make out what that sign says, okay, I enlarged it, It says Hannan's North Tourist Mine. You'll notice everyone had to wear the orange safety vests. some big machinery there and some REALLY big machinery, see the...
