Wikipedia tells us that The Sherman brothers wrote "It's a Small World (After All)" in the wake of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, which influenced the song's message of peace and brotherhood. I sang it as a girl scout in the 70es, and it is still true ... and an earworm.
I've always loved that song and wish we could apply to our daily lives- or rather the politicians we elect to office would. Our present way of life is unsustainable on a finite planet. WE can dream. XO WWW
hels; I remember hearing that somewhere. I also remember my mum once saying everybody is the same we all put our pants on one leg at a time, even royalty.
Amen to that. I just got another lesson of this yesterday! A good lesson of me overcoming prejudice and being rewarded for it, because... small world with people.
Iris; if only everyone thought like this, we are all the same, we might look different but so do animals like dogs and cats, why are people made to feel different?
Maybe I should "collect" what I find at/on (?) Facebook. Little kids stating they look so much alike the teacher will not be able to see who is who! They have the same hair-cut/the same clothes, yet.... you get the picture, one very dark the other very light skin, but they only see haircut/clothes and that they have the same laughter and ideas. The adults teach them they are "different"... You are right, I should collect and post that!
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections. A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please. Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us more often. **Elephant's Child is taking a break for the month of February** Continuing our road trip, today sees us in Snowtown, a small place 100km north of Adelaide. The welcome sign has an original windmill and the new wind power generators which we saw in a recent post along the hilltops for several miles. a painted water tower the infamous "bodies in barrels" bank which is no longer a bank All Bank signage was removed a long time ago an...
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by River (that's me) and can be found here This week's words/prompts are: 1. on the run 2. belong 3. street 4. breakfast 5. tent and this image: taken by "Genius" and allowed by Val . Also Charlotte's colour of the month which is Orient Red for September.
the Mickey Mouse plant is called Ochna Serrulata and here is the information I gathered via Google: being indigenous to South Africa it probably isn't a plant that would do well in the northern hemisphere areas such as Europe or the UK unless in a sheltered warm area, such as an airy greenhouse.
Beautiful video, song and art! I love the message. Amen!
ReplyDeleteLinda's Relaxing Lair; this is from so long ago I can't remember when the song came out. The message still rings true though.
DeleteHi River, thanks. And as far as the aqua harp goes, it should be listened 🎶 to at a low volume. Hope that helps. 🙏 I hope you have a great week ahead.
DeleteThanks for the earworm!

ReplyDeletejabblog; it was quite the thing here for a while, lots of kids learned it.
DeleteNice. I've never heard it before.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; how is that possible? It was everywhere back in the 70s-80s.

Wisewebwoman; all we can do is the best we can and be kind to everyone.
Delete"There's no shame; we are all the same". I wish I thought of that, but it actually came from Embarrassing Bodies.

Deleteechoes my sentimonies..... can't we all just get along???
ReplyDeleteArcticFox; apart from the odd argument here and there, we should all be getting along, we are all people.
DeleteWe went to Disney in California and I swear, there are whole rides powered by that song.
ReplyDeletejeanie; that doesn't surprise me at all.
DeleteI never went on that ride.
ReplyDeleteMike; which ride was that?
Delete'It's a small world' ride at Disney. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_a_Small_World
DeleteYes, I also remember this from the Disney ride!
ReplyDeleteSteve Reed; I think I've heard it on the rides in movies where people go to Disneyland.
