Sunday Selections #742

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us more often.

A shorter selection this week:

irrefutable proof that I have not yet lost my marbles

A faint rainbow on my way home from the shops

looking through my front window at the downpour a few minutes later, I often get home just in the nick of time

many trees are showing auumn colour now

I've been cooking for the freezer, this is the meat, carrot, onion and garlic portion of the cottage pie ready for the crushed tomatoes to be added

sweet potato and pumpkin soup (with ginger, garlic and onion)

steamed veggies, cauliflower, carrot and green beans, in a cheese sauce, ready to be baked

the redheads have found my cookie cutters, maybe they are planning some baking of their own?

the girls have been painting

and then decided painting themselves

was more fun.

Tomorrow the girls will be three years old!

Remember this? Gen on the left weighing 5 pounds and Ana on the right weighing 4 pounds. By 18 months Ana had caught up and their weights and heights were identical.

  1. Such tiny babies - so sweet. Are they left-handed or are they still deciding?

    1. jabblog; I think they are still deciding but they did use the left when they first began picking up things.

    1. The Happy Whisk; my marbles will be safe as long as no one opens thta decanter. The food was delicious and there is more in the freezer.

  3. I love the marbles. I used to have a collection, and played around with boiling some, which made beautiful cracks in the clear ones. Such colorful little artists! It's hard to believe they're already turning 3. Your food looks good, but I'm not a fan of sweet potatoes, nor pumpkins. No soup for me!

    1. Val; more soup for me! My mum used rto have a bag of marbles thta no one was allowed to touch, each year when she mad jams and chutneys the marbles were used in the pot where they bounced around on the ottom to help prevent the jams etc from sticking as they simmered. It is hard to believ the girls are three, where did the time go? In two more years they will be in school.

  4. Your meals look good. Perfect for after busy and tiring days.
I have lost my marbles - or most of them.
Love the twins. How fascinating that Ana now weighs exactly the same as her sister.

    1. Elephant's Child; The meals are great for tiring days, just get something from the freezer , heat and eat. I'm sorry you have lost your marbles. The twins have weighed and measured exactly the same for two years now. Not too surprising, thye eat the same foods in the same amounts and run around outside together, then sit inside to "watch" tv, which means jumping up and down off the couch and dancing, singing with Moana etc.

    1. Linda's Relaxing Lair; the babies are very precious, being over 40, my son had thought he might never be a dad, and then to suddenly have two at once was a huge surprise! The food was delicious.

  6. I wonder if it was the same weather system. I too had a close call with a heavy shower not long ago. The week past, I think
Had I forgotten my twin great nephew's birthdays the day after, this would be a good reminder. But I haven't forgotten and their birthday cards were sent last Thursday, with a few of the old pensioner's precious dollars enclosed.
    Happy birthday to the twinnies.

    1. Andrew; it might have been the same weather system, it moves across in just a couple of days. I'm glad you remembered your great nephews' birthdays. Do they remember you at all? The girls remember me because I am there a lot.

  7. Evergreen trees are probably better suited to Australian climate but the tree showing autumn colours is much more beautiful.

  8. What you have made in the kitchen looks wonderful! You can be very proud of yourself- also those little girls do look a lot like you don't they! Three years old is the best age.Imagination takes over and they are they become very entertaining. It does not seem possible that they are going to be three already!

    1. Linda Sue; my teeny tiny kitchen does produce amazing meals. My family genes are strong, my mother's forehead and cheekbones will live forever in future generations. I see my oldest girl in the twins as well as their dad, they have his eyebrows, and they have their mum's chin. I'm looking forward to seeing where their imaginations take them.

I gave mine away, huhhhhhh.... The Nieces have them... maybe still.

Oh, did you make a wish on the rainbow?
I love rain. Pople often look at me as if.... marbles.... when I just walkk on in it. Everybody rund (they get as wet, too!), and I just walk and smile.
Ack for Autumn. But tJune and 18C is not better!
    OK, you have me hungry.
The word "redhead" really makes me giggle, think of when nearly the police showed up in Perth... I was very clear, "I lost my red ... hat."!!!!
Must be really cold by now?

    1. P.S. It´s a bit scary.... CJ has a post today on how marbles are made....

    2. Iris; I did not make a wish on the rainbow, I never have, maybe I should. I like rain too, but not very heavy and fast rain that hurts almost like hail stones. We have 18C today and it is cold but we can get colder, usually later in June and then July and August too. Nights are cold now so I am happy when Lola gets under the bedcovers with me, she is very warm. I will look at how marbles are made.

    3. 16C here you "Whimp" - kidding!!!!" Ack, this is too cold for June. Yes, wish on the next rainbow, can´t hurt... fK is VERY into that stuff and... who knows. She is an engineer too, both worlds might exist side by side....

  12. I keep forgetting it's autumn where you are! That still blows my mind, even though I'm almost 60 years old and I have long understood how seasons work in the southern hemisphere.

I like your marble jar! Very decorative.

    Replies
    1. Steve Reed; the opposite seasons are nice though, we get to see your flowers when we have too few and also see the snow when we are melting downunder. The marble jar is a crystal decanter I picked up at a garage sale for only $5.

  13. I also forgot it is autumn there. Soup does look good.

  14. Like you, Grandpa hasn't lost his marbles, either. They're in a jar on his desk.

Your selections are always a delight and those girls, I'm so glad you get to share them with us.

    1. messymimi; we smart people always keep our marbles safe. The girls today were very noisy when I visited, and I had to referee a couple of fights over toys.

  15. Why are marbles in a glass container such a satisfying thing? I have a collection as well ;) I like the redheads all ready for cold season and deciding if they like to bake or not.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Charlotte; because they are pretty and shiny? The redheads are deciding what type of cookies to bake, they like chocolate chip but I forgot to buy the chocolate chips.
