Sunday Selections # 745
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
starting this week with some heavy cloud cover over the hills:
looking east along Glen Osmond Road towards the hills areas
brother R sent me this photo of two chairs, he thinks from the 60s but the colour suggests 70s to me and I think they are awful.
last Tuesday was sausage day at Casa de River
I cooked a couple of dozen, kept out two for dinner and froze the rest. I dislike having to clean up all the spatter from sausages, that's why I do a big batch and freeze them, thawing and reheating takes no time at all.
I had a surprise in the mail, all the way from Germany, from Iris
inside was this book which I will begin reading as soon as I finish my current book, then I will lend it to "no-one" who is also a Simpsons fan.
the blurb on the back explains the book.
on Friday I made a half batch of pizza dough, giving me two mini pizza bases and two mini foccacias.
Here they are fresh out of the oven, overdone because I was online and not paying attention, but they were tasty. One for Friday night and one for Saturday night.
The foccacias were lunch.
Here's Lola pretending to be Angel, he always loved lying in the sun patch by the front door, but Lola has never done this until this one time.
Next is a video, quite loud but also short:
it's the twins of course, I hope it plays for you.
Good idea with the sausages!
ReplyDeleteThere's no better fun than bouncing on the bed.
jabblog; I do the cook and freeze things with lots of foods. We never bounced on the beds and I didn't let my kids do that either, but these two are allowed. It was too cold to go outside to the trampoline.
DeleteI love sausages!
ReplyDeleteLinda's Relaxing Lair; I do too, with onion gravy and mashed potatoes.
DeleteOh, that is even better! Yum! :)
Deleteas a pescetarian, the concept of sausage spatter is alien to me..... we do get vegetarian sausages but they cook a lot easier than the unpredictable meaty counterparts..... those chairs are gross!!
ReplyDeleteArcticFox; I confess, I am a meat eater, but I also like fish, it's often too expensive these days, so is steak, which is why I'm reduced to sausages and minced beef (ground beef for Americans). Those chairs are awful!
DeleteLove the happy twins.
ReplyDeleteSausages are messy - great idea.
Batty and Odie like to lie in the sun like that and have claimed a spot that Jazz enjoyed.
Elephant's Child; the twins are always happy, unless they are sick which is rare, but they had that cold which they shared with me. They are very much like my kids were, always happy and rarely sick. Lola usually prefers the sunny windowsill when she isn't sleeping on my bed.
DeleteThe girls need a bouncy house! Such fun, complete with shrieks, love them. Those chairs look as if they got the plans mixed up.
ReplyDeleteBoud; they do need a bouncy house! What a great idea. I wonder if they make small ones. Those chairs do look wrong.
DeleteIf the blurb on the back of the book is accurate, I would find that important to read before paying. Even if they have some vested interest in selling the book.
ReplyDeletehels; I always read the blurbs before I buy a book. This one was sent to me by a friend.
ReplyDeleteThe chairs are awful no matter the decade of origin.
ReplyDeleteAll your food, however, looks delightful and the book sounds like a fabulous read.
Maybe Lola will start sitting there more often.
The twins are precious and oh, the joy!
messymimi; the chairs are just so badly designed. Lola is back on the windowsill, her favourite spot, snoozing her day away. The twins are always full of joy, they're a happy pair just like my children always were.
DeleteThose chairs look interesting. I believe I never seen a style like that before.
ReplyDeleteDora; interesting is not what I first thought, I suppose some people might like them.
DeleteThe chairs are hideous, and I agree with the 70s. The sausages look delicious. I like a nice char on them, and the "overdone" pizzas would be fine for me. The bed-jumping is a good way to expend energy when trapped inside. My kids didn't jump on the bed. It wasn't forbidden, they just didn't have an interest. The girls appear to be enjoying this activity!
ReplyDeleteVal; the orange is what calls 70s to me. I like a nice char on my sausages too, but the pizzas were a bit too overdone. I ate them anyway. The girls have so much energy!! When I get there to visit it's go go go the whole time. They don't nap anymore either.
DeleteThe sky looks promising (I love rain) but the chairs look awful.
ReplyDeleteWe had horse sausages yesterday, 29C it was, yippeee, on the BBQ, no clean up needed!
I am surprised the book arrived that fast. Must´ve been some The Simpsons-calculation or - magic...!
Hmmm, Pizza!!! LOL Overdone cause.... yep... happens
Oh... my friend fK has 14-year-old twins, I think she could relate. It must be so comforting to have a twin.
Being 5 1/2 years older I was more like a mini-parent to my Brother. Not fun. Yippeee to those two :-)
Iris; I love rain too, but don't like the cold weather so much. If I had space I'd have a barbecue. I'm happy the book arrived quickly.
DeleteI really should remember to pay more attention when things are in the oven.
It is comforting to have a twin, I have seen the girls look after each other when one isn't feeling so well, the other will hug and cuddle to help.
Jumping on the bed having the time of her life :)
ReplyDeleteA nice selection R. Don't mind a sausage with onions on top in bread, yours look good and they do spit a bit when cooking. I must say those chairs are ridiculous.
Margaret D; two girls jumping on their beds, identical twins. I love sausages in bread with onions and a bit of sauce too. Quick and easy lunch. I agree about the chairs.
DeleteSo THAT'S where my chairs went!
ReplyDeleteMike; pick them up any time.
DeleteJumping, happy children are a gift, Mine never jumped in the beds - they were not that bouncy.
ReplyDeleteThose chairs just look all wrong. Has he tried sitting in them? They might be comfy ... not that I'll want them in my house ;)
Charlotte; we weren't allowed to jump on the beds, they got made right after breakfast and we had to keep them neat. I'm glad the girls are allowed to play.
DeleteI don't know if R sat on the chairs, they were in the lobby of a hotel he was at.
Your twins jumping on the beds reminded me of jumping on the bed at my grandmas. We weren't allowed at our house, but at grandmas it was always about the fun and not the rules. :)
ReplyDeleteYour sausages look so delicious. Good idea to cook them in batches. We like sweet Italian sausages on hoagie rolls smothered with marinara sauce and cooked green peppers and onions on top. Your pizzas and focaccia look good to me. A little crisp is a good thing. :)
Gray days are welcome any day by me, as we live in the high desert and hardly ever get rain, and I think those chairs belong in a quirky book store with an adjacent coffee shop. Something
hippie-ish. I wouldn't have them in my home though unless it was in a basement.
MMM; I wouldn't have those chairs even in a basement! The twins are very energetic, almost always on the move. I've never had sweet Italian sausages, I don't think I can get them here.
