Sunday Selections #756

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.

Not sure if Elephant's Child will be joining us, but we have hope.

Beginning today with a drawing from Gen, age 3

it's a cat! She has only recently learned to draw circles and other shapes.

spring growth on the fig tree across the road

small mounds of yellow daisies in the house for sale just up the road a bit

I moved my porch potplants to where the rain could water them, then lifted incorrectly when I put them back and am now suffering from that sprain, not too badly, it's been ten days and moving is easier now.

spotted this nice bird bath/fountain/whatever while walking back down Glen Osmond road the day before the potplant incident.

and a couple of "Henry's" guarding this gateway.

Henry is the name of the Lion who is mascot to the city of Braunschweig in Germany where Iris lives.

another of the pages my kindle displays when it turns itself off

this one has fish

and this one shows a writer at his des while animals sleep in the foreground

a story on our TV news recently had me snapping pictures of the screen,

fossilised remains have been found of what was once a very large fish

one of the archaeologists who are very carefully unearthing the bone pieces and fragments,

another section, but I have forgotten which end

an overhead view

and this is what they think the fish looked like. There was mention of the largest eyes ever seen in a fossil this old.

a mural of the State's flower, Sturt's Desert Pea

nice advertising for a car dealership

this mound of foam, looking very much like shaving foam, was at our Henley Beach recently, causing the beach and cafes to be closed as it is part of the awful algae bloom currently beseiging our beautiful coastline, for miles and miles, or kilometres if you prefer.

from "no-one" very pretty raindrops on clover leaves

the caribbean lilies are flowering again

the unopened buds fitting with Charlotte's colour of the month, "Beauty Berry Purple"

finishing with:

this month's calendar page.

    1. Linda's Relaxing Lair; thank you, Gen is quite proud of her new pencil skills.

  2. It was going so good until the last one. I never could drink coffee. It's just nasty. Way to bitter and unfixable. Maybe now that I'm ol... older, I should try it again because I've probably lost half my taste buds. ... Na.

    1. Mike; if you have never had coffee, don't start now. I drink the awful cheap instant powder coffee that my parents had and load it with sugar, just as they did. I'm trying to cut down on sugar, so now drink fewer coffees per day.

  3. I see the whiskers on Gen's cat. It's starting to look a lot like spring there. The clover raindrops look refreshing. Sorry about your sprain, but at least your plants got a fresh drink.

    1. Val; the poor plants had been so parched they were ready to march inside and sit themselves under a tap. I've been very lazy this year with watering being ignored since last summer. I love Gen's cat picture, their real cat Azriel is very fluffy and I think that's what Gen copied. I'm quite used to spraining parts of me, but it's annoying having to slow down while it gets better.

    1. Elephant's Child; thank you, I love Gen's developing skills and hope she will son begin writing alphabet letters. She can sing the ABC song with no mistakes. Spring is always good for photos. RUOK?

  5. Life without coffee is like a broken pencil - pointless! That could be a personal motto for me to carry through life.

    1. hels; I think a lot of people think that way about coffee.

  6. It doesn't take much to damage your back or neck, as I know.
Your Kindle displays is nothing like mine.
The fossil was found close to where my nephew lives.
The algal bloom has received little coverage here, which isn't great for something so serious.

    1. Andrew; I wish I hadn't forgotten that one major rule with regard to lifting, I almost always lift correctly. All kindles are different I suppose, maybe you could show some of your displays? Mine has several ols authors as well as birds, fish etc
I'm not sirprised our algal bloom wasn't much covered there. It's been going on now for several months while governments ignored it and many, many people were saying "if it was Bondi something would have been done immediately." Or one of the other popular NSW or QLD beaches favoured by tourists.

  8. I knew at once it´s a cat! A grinning cat, very well done, Chapeau!
Shoot on getting old(er) - that or dying, as my FIL says. Glad you´re on the way up!
Henry says a big ROAR-HI!!!!! With a big Smile!Kindle always gives me such silly suggestions - not connected to AI!
Huh, boy, am I glad we live now. Huge eyes...
And ohhhhh, thank you for the memories!!! Near Karratha/Dampier we saw these beautiful flowers!!!
If Ingo wasn´t sick I would so love to go on another road trip!
Ewww on that foam! (Hihi, yes, kilometres, please).
I have another Charlotte I wait for here (actually I found her in the loo already).
Well I am pointless, I am tea...

    1. Iris; it's a very good cat from a three years old, her very first drawing I think. I would much rather get old than die young, I don't even care about the wrinkles and grey hair, but now my eyebrows have started with the grey hair and I don't like that. I have seen the Sturt's Desert Pea growing in gardens in Port Pirie.
I wish something could have been done about that foam much earlier, so many fish are dying and washing up on the beaches, people walking their dogs on beaches have to stay away because the dogs get sick.

  9. A lovely, wide-ranging collection. I like the cat!
Your KIndle has different illustrations to mine.
It's so interesting that new discoveries are being made through fossil remains. The more we learn, the more we realise how little we know.

    1. jabblog; I like the cat too, I am going to print it and hang it as soon as I buy more ink for the printer. I'd like to see your Kindle illustrations.
I remember learning long ago that Australia was once under the ocen and then the "red center" was an inland ocean, this fossil is proof. I'm very happy that people all over the world are discovering things like this.

  10. I only drink decaf coffee these days but I can see why people think they need full fat monster raving lunatic coffee to get them through the day. A good walk is a good substitute to get you brain into gear though (if you can tolerate walking like a zombie for the first mile or so).

    :o)

    Cheers

    1. Plasman; I don't drink decaf, I don't even drink "real" coffee according to some people who tell me all about the fancy new styles available. I know about a good walk clearing the brain and kick starting ideas, I had that myself just yesterday. Walked, got home and cleared out six drawers.
