Sunday Selections # 765

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.

Beginning today with the night version of Halloween at the twins home:

skull with blue eyes

skull with red eyes

headstone in green and red

pumpkins

and the porch area with the skeletons on the swings

what all the well-dressed statues are wearing this winter

roses becoming mottled as they begin to fade

some people don't like the imperfection of dying flowers but I find it interesting

here is a red one with paler patches showing

more recently the first hollyhocks I have seen this season

and some interesting decorations at the dog wash booth

and homes where Indian people live

I haven't checked but I believe these are for Diwali

and inside my local Post Office, put in your real money to get some of the fake stuff? No thank you!

  1. I wish all the statues could be well-dressed. That one looks so smart and cosy.

    1. jabblog; he does look cosy and makes me think of chairs by the fire with a good book to read.

  3. The blue-eyed skull is striking. Did the girls get to see the lit-up version of the decorations? I don't know how soon it gets dark there, compared to their bedtime. It's dark here at 5:00 now, but in summer, it can be after 9:00.

    1. Val; yes they did get to see all the lights and did a bit of trick-or-treating with their brothers. I haven't checked the clock at all, but these days it's light until after 7pm, getting close to 8pm.

  4. Your eye for both the whimsical and the subtle imperfections makes the collection feel personal and alive. It’s like taking a gentle walk through the world as you see it.

    1. hels; do you have one the same? The photo was sent by "no-one" and I have forgotten exactly where it is, but somewhere in the city for sure.

  8. Pretty flowers. I don't know what dying flowers look like. At the first sign of decay, snip.
Diwali celebrations are becoming larger and larger each ear. Good fun.
When people like you or I start buying crypto, be alarmed.

    1. Andrew; maybe you could let a few die naturally and enjoy the process. I think many Diwali decorations double as Christmas decorations, since Diwali traditionally is only five days and these have been up for a couple of months now.
I will NEVER buy crypto. I like REAL money.

  9. That's a very spooky house.

Even dying flowers, if they retain lots of colors and aren't just brown, can have a beauty and charm of their own.

I'm also not much for the idea of cryptocurrency.

    1. messymimi; it certainly looked spooky, thank goodness it isn't spooky in real life, nothing haunted in there. That's exactly what I mean, dying flowers showing different colours as they fade away. I will never buy or trust cryptocurrency, nor bitcoin either.

  10. Crypto from the Post Office? No thanks.

    1. Mike; very sensible of you. I think post offices should stick with mailing and delivering letters and packages and accepting payments on bills like utilities.

  11. The one on the swing is my fav :-) But all the skulls are cool, too. Have a great Sunday!

  12. I have read about it and read about it and I STILL do not understand Bitcoin. And I want nothing to do with it! The cozy statue is great -- that looks like quite a nice bathrobe!
