Words for Wednesday
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.
The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.
If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.
This month the words/prompts are supplied by Hilary Melton-Butcher and can be found right here on this blog.
This week's words/prompts are:
1.baker 2.canoe 3.gable 4.training 5.rot
and/or:
1.lily-livered 2.provisions 3.barley 4.arrow 5.border
use either list or both, or mix and match, just have fun.
Charlotte's colour of the month is as seen above the text here
My own story will hopefully appear on this blog on Friday 12th
I love seeing the word baker in the list.
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Whisk; I just love bakers and walking past bakeries and breathing deep, whether it is bread or sweet things, it's all delicious.
DeleteExcellent. I'm a baker and it's great fun to make all of those things! Excited to read your next story.
DeleteHey River! Got your comment about ALDI. I totally understand the longer ride. There's another market I enjoy only it's 30 minutes out and I only go when we're in that area for more than one thing. So I totally get that. Happy Weekend my friend.
DeleteNever heard of lily-livered will look it up, R.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D; I have heard of it but don't recall the exact meaning, similar to weak or cowardly I think. I shall have to look it up too.
DeleteFrom Google: "To be lily-livered means to be cowardly, fearful, or lacking in courage. It is an old-fashioned, somewhat colorful insult used to describe someone who is spineless or afraid to take risks."
DeleteGosto muito dessa brincadeira de escrever. Boas palavras! beijos, lindo dia! chica
ReplyDeletechica; it's a challenge some weeks and easier sometimes depending on the words supplied.
DeleteI look forward to seeing your story with great anticipation.
ReplyDeleteMary and Chris; thank you.
DeleteI'm all for having fun.
ReplyDeleteDora; I like fun too, but in small doses as I get older.
DeleteWhen I moved to Braunschweig my flat-mate introduced me to a bakery nearby.
ReplyDeleteI always ordered bread for Ingo in advance and the baker-ladies laughed their heads off about my surname, greeting Ingo with it as there was an advertising, "Hallo Herr Kaiser!"
Ingo´s surname is a different one but we let them have their fun.
When we moved I still went there and saw in Razzmatazz-colored summer the people on their way for their training on River Oker with their canoe.
I passed by the house with the high gable but then times went rough and that bakery did "rot" away as in had to close...
Sadly true.
Looking forward to yours!
Iris; too bad about the bakery but a great use of the words. I like watching canoes and racing boats on the river here. My grandson was a member of a rowing team for his school, years ago now.
DeleteOdd words but it inspired me. My take on the prompts:
ReplyDeleteFiction: Canoe on the Roof
Have a lovely day.
