Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.  If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along and read it. This month the words/prompts are supplied by Cindi and can be found here This week's words/prompts are: "write one sentence that can be genuinely happy and upbeat as the opening sentence of a story, but as the last sentence to the story it is now chilling, dark and horrifying." Here is that one sentence: 'Trembling slightly, she pushed open the front door.' (anticipation at the beginning of the story, dread at the ending)

In a cave they find a single human skeleton and fifteen words written on a wall. What are the words?" Here are my words: You were right Mum. Rocket fuel in the speedboat was a bad idea. Sorry, Ben. and another option: All alone here. Ship beyond repair. No communication with Earth. Still looking for water.  Week 8.

This month the words/prompts are supplied by Cindi and can be found here This week's words/prompts are: "You have the ability to mentally hear the honest answer to any question just by looking at the person and thinking the question. It was all fun and games until you looked in the mirror and asked a question you shouldn't have. What was the answer?"  Here was my answer:  "Why would you even think to ask such a stupid question? Of course it is all your fault. No one forced you to sit for hours scrolling around the internet. No one forced you to eat family sized blocks of chocolate several times a week. You did that to yourself, all the while promising to b...

Not the sort of thing I usually see

I had an appointment with the ENT again this morning, the cauterised nose has been bleeding again, although nowhere near as profusely as last year, so I hauled myself out of bed at a respectable hour, had breakfast and headed to the bus stop. I was met halfway by  a neighbour who knew I was going and was told he would be my bodyguard. I said I didn't need bodyguarding, he said wait until you see what's at the bus stop. So we rounded the corner and there he was. A near-naked man, youngish, wearing a baseball cap, underpants and something on his feet that might have been thongs. He seemed to be off his head a bit, making agitated movements, constantly walking out into traffic and back again, picking up his back pack, putting it back on the seat, otherwise seemingly unable to stay still.  We hung back from the actual stop, not wanting to get too close, just in case he was more unstable than he seemed and I really hoped he wasn't going to get on the bus. But the bus arrived, I...

Blogger friend Iris Flavia asked to see the photos of me holding a koala on the day I went to the Cleland Wildlife park with my friends J and J: these are from 2014, so I look a little different now, certainly my hair is much longer.

She looked at him through the mirror, noting the hang-dog look and sighed. "She's done it again, hasn't she Daddy?" "For a nine year old, she has remarkable insight," thought Paul. Out loud, he said "Yes she has and I do...
