Wednesday's Words on a Friday

On Wednesdays, Delores, from A Feathered Nest has a meme which she calls
"Words for Wednesday".

She puts up a selection of six words which we then use in a short story, if we are able.
Sometimes I look at her words and nothing at all comes to mind.

This week's words are:

1. feet
2. mud
3. expensive
4. diamonds
5. sharp
6. sliding

Here is my short story:

Billy was desperate to get away. The alarm was shrilling loudly and already he could hear sirens in the distance. It was raining steadily now and with both feet sliding in the mud, he ran towards the fence.

He wasn't sure he'd make it, he was losing a lot of blood from the gash in his thigh after falling on the sharp edge of the window he'd broken in through.

Three feet from the fence, Billy collapsed into the mud, his outstretched hands tightly grasping the necklace and bracelet of expensive diamonds he'd stolen.

mm; no he got caught. not sure if he survived the blood loss though...

Elephant's Child; because he is young and this is his first foolish mistake?

Mimsie; Billy didn't escape, as for surviving and learning...that's another tale altogether.
