Sunday Selections # 138

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.
Kim spends more time writing at The Shake these days.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to The Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.

Kath and Andrew often join in as well, although Kath has been quite busy lately and unable to join us.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I have some random  photos that I took while on my way to visit my daughter, K.

a discarded bottle of running-in oil, somebody has a brand new car.

an odd "pair" of shoes. I passed this way again a week later and they were still there, but completely ruined by the drenching rains we'd had over three days.

this delightful cubby house,

shaded by...

a beautiful orange tree.

When I arrived at Ks house, her cat, Missy, followed me inside and stayed still while I took her photo.
Usually as soon as I aim the camera, she takes off and hides.

She doesn't like to look at the camera, I had to sit still for quite a while to get this.

Here she is avoiding the lens again. A film star she ain't.

So I tried a different angle, then left her alone to snooze.

Comments

  1. I am always fascinated by the number of discarded shoes lying about. Often shoes and socks. I thought I was forgetful...
Love the diva Missy, and the cubby house.
And hiss and spit about the discarded oil bottle.

  3. Was it two one legged blokes or did they hop a lot.
That is a beautiful cat even if she is camera shy, love black cats owned a few but not a longhair.

  4. Gidday,

What an interesting collection of photos you have shared, my human friend. I can make your adorable cat, a film star, pawhaps!

Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! :)

  5. Some very interesting pics.
There is a cubby house just like that one in a front garden around the corner from us.
Our Precious runs as soon as I turn the camera on eve though I can't hear it make a sound. Haven't been able to get any photos of her for a couple of years now and have no idea what frightens her. That is a lovely cat and I can see why EC would like her. The colour.
River...I've not been on here for a few days. Don't ask me why....just sort of busy doing nothing but not in the right mood for being here. You said you'd sent me an email on 19th but it didn't and hasn't arrived. It's definitely mimsie@amnet.net.au so perhaps you would try again so I can get these books into the mail for you. Please.

  6. Elephant's Child; more than shoes and/or socks, I'm fascinated by the numbers of t shirts and underpants I see lying around. They must blow off someone's washing line or get dropped when carrying stuff out of cars, but no one ever comes looking for them.

Delores; I always wanted a cubby house when I was little, had to make do with sheets thrown over a table. I had a cat though.

Joanne; that's our Missy. full name Miss Kitty Fantastico.

Merlesworld; two one legged blokes was my first thought too! We'll never know. I wish Missy would let me brush her long hair, it's quite tangled, but she has a fit and I've had enough scratches.

klahanie; thanks for the offer, Penny, but I don't think Missy wants to be a film star. I'd have more luck with the stray that hangs around and steals her food.

Mimsie; I'll send another email, perhaps I left the "au" off the first one.
Does your camera have a flash? Maybe that scares her? Or maybe she is in witness protection and can't be photographed in case someone recognises her.

  7. How strange about the shoes - wonder what the story was with those?
I love the orange tree photo.

  8. A nice journey - I love the orange tree.

  9. I want that cubby house! And the tree! Gorgeous stuff.

  10. Jackie K; we'll never know about the shoes, they're gone now. Orange trees are always so bright to look at, the contrast with the orange and the deep green leaves is wonderful.

jabblog; I think everyone loves orange trees.

Happy Elf Mom; I want that cubby too, except I'm too big for it now.

  11. Awww... little Missy is gorgeous >(*!*)< and nice that she let you take her photo. We have a Missy a couple of doors down and she's the spitting image of my Max so unless they are close to me I can often get them mixed up!
