Sunday Selections

Long, long ago, in days of yore...Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look.

I hope you enjoy my selections for today:

I washed the blue cover blanket I keep on my bed and put this old chicken one on instead, just for the day.

Lola wasn't impressed and wouldn't get on the bed, spending the whole day on the arm of my chair, waiting for me to sit down and watch tv so she could sleep between my feet.

I bought a scented candle for my bedroom, the label read "Icecream" so I thought it would smell delicious and it does.

this is the candle reflection lighting up the gilt in the print on the opposite wall.

My plum trees were heavily loaded with blossoms,

then a gale force wind brought many of them down to look like a hail storm had been through.

I bought these seeds to make a cheery colour swathe through the green of my small patch,

they have now been planted in these big ceramic pots and all are germinated, but I didn't take new photos yet. I will once the seedlings are more easily seen.

I have a new small succulent ready for a bigger pot too.

a nearby wattle tree is in full bloom and dozens of bees are buzzing around in it,

here is a closer look,

these are unopened blossoms, just as pretty to me

Here is a "loner". "I'm an individual"

This is both opened and unopened blossoms

this is Lola this morning, sleeping on the windowsill with only one paw and the tip of her tail showing.

  1. Great selection, love especially Lola (not a big surprise, huh) and the blossoms!

    1. Iris Flavia; thank you. Lola is lovely. The blossoms are lovely too, but the scent had me locked indoors for several days.

  2. I really love your selections. The blossom confetti carpet and Lola particularly took my eye as well. And hooray for seeds germinating and growing. This morning as I type we have gentle rain and I am sure the garden is drinking it in with gratitude.

    1. Elephant's Child; we have been having an occasional overnight rain and the garden has loved it. Me too, since I don't have to go out and water. I hope we both get more rain.

  3. Thank you for those wattle photos, They are the first of still closed flowers I ever saw, and they're so nice.

    1. Charlotte; I'm glad you like them. Wattles are a favourite of mine, they signal the coming end of winter, but don't bring on my hayfever.

  4. Good morning, River!

Lola was probably sulking...cranky she couldn't catch any of the chickens! I love that colourful cover...a joyful burst of spring!

My two furry mates stare at my TV often...when it's not on...wondering when it's once again going to burst into life. I have to laugh, whenever knocking on a door, or the ringing of a door bell issues forth from whatever the series/movie is I'm watching. They both wake up with a start...thinking it is actually happening, and "we" have unexpected visitors. I don't have a door bell, but they certainly appear to recognise the sound of one...and dread what it means! :)

I look forward to seeing your colourful blooms when they are blooming.

May the week ahead treat you kindly....with heaps of happiness and good things thrown in for good measure. Cuddles to lovely Lady Lola. :)

    1. Lee; good morning to you too. I don't think Lola sulks, but in this case you may be right. I'm pretty sure she has never seen a chicken, she even ignores the birds she sees through the window, no interest at all. She does take notice of the time during the day, and when it is close to 6pm, she will go to the chair and wait for me, I rarely have the tv on during the day.

  5. Cats are so funny about change. Perhaps worse than humans.
The magic from flowering trees is such a short pleasure, but wonderful when it happens. It's a pity yours seem to end in such a rush but the petals do make a nice carpet.

    1. Andrew; cats are weird in plenty of ways, but Lola is a lot more settled now that we are used to each other. The blossoms didn't entirely end in that big wind, there are plenty left on the trees. Thank goodness the pollen has gone though. I miss the buzzing of the bees but at least I can breathe now.

  6. I put down new bedding and then the blanket the cat is permitted to use. I came into the room later in the day, and he was asleep on the pillow. Punishment for disrupting the bed.

    1. Joanne; I was surprised that Lola refused the bed, usually she will sleep on the pillow if the bedcover is in the wash, or on my pyjamas if I haven't folded them away, but this one time she spent the whole day on the arm of the TV chair.

  7. Very nice shots, and cats do not like change. They will let you know how much if you push them.

    Enjoy your flowers and candle!

    1. messymimi; Lola went through quite a bit of change when she first came here, but I think she is used to the way things are here now.

  8. I bet Lota loves to lay on bed. Anyhow what charming bed cover

    1. Dora; the bed is her favourite place when I'm in there too and in winter she sleeps during the day there. The bed cover is a scrap piece of fleecy material I got from an end-of-roll remnant bin for just under $10. Years ago now.

  9. I do like wattle but always causes a lot of sneezing.

    1. Merle; wattle doesn't make me sneeze, lucky me.

  10. I love the chicken blanket! I suppose Lola could not relax if she was surrounded by flat cloth chickens. I'm not much of a plant person, but I like the succulent best of these photos.

    1. Val; I love the chicken blanket too, most often I used it as a couch blanket, but I no longer have a couch, just the two TV chairs, so it doubles for the bed.

  11. Lovely to see your photos.
The throw is colourful, the wattle beautiful, the candle does look effective with the lights out - your Lola is ever so sweet waiting for you :)

    1. Margaret D; thank you. I'm not sure sweet is the right word, she throws annoyed looks at me when I don't sit in the chair right away.

  12. That was cute with Lola not pleased with the new cover. She seemed to be giving it a stink eye. Good that she has a plan B with your feet.
The candle name was curious. Don't think I have ever smelled ice cream. Maybe I get the wrong kind. Loved that last picture.

    1. Arkansas Patti; sleeping between my feet in the TV chair is plan A, Lola would be happy if I sat there all day long. The candle is fairly new, I haven't heard of the brand before, I'll take a photo of the box and post it sometime this week. There are other fragrances available.
