Wednesday's Words on a Friday
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.
The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.
If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.
This month the words/prompts are supplied by messymimi and can be found here
This week's words/prompts are:
1. hostility
2. east
3. girlfriend
4. wall
5. hardware
6. bear
and a photo image of a bridge.
Here is my story:
Inwardly she cowered at the waves of hostility emanating from him, outwardly she determined to look as calm as possible. He sneered as he braced his arms either side of her, effectively pinning her against the wall of the hardware store. "Cat got your tongue, girlfriend? Too good for us now that you've moved east of the bridge?"
"I'm not your girlfriend, I never was your girlfriend, you cheating scumbag. Any relationship between us was only in your mind and after what you did to my cousin, I can't bear the sight of you!"
Looking him squarely in the eyes, she raised her knee hard and fast, the resulting gasp and painful moaning giving her a measure of satisfaction as he lowered his arms and curled into a ball on the floor.
She walked away without a single backward glance.
Ouch. Well written. What did he do?
ReplyDeleteCharlotte; I have no idea what he did, I didn't think that far. I assume he just treated her badly and ran around with other women as well.
DeleteWell done. Both your writing and your protagonist.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago pinned against the wall I dropped to my knees and crawled out from under the cage the man had created.
Elephant's Child; thank you. You were pinned against a wall too? I've been there myself...
DeleteGood for her! Well written.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; thank and thank you for this month's prompts.

Margaret D; thank you :)
DeleteWhat a brave woman! Encouraging, story! I hope I never get into such a situation...
ReplyDeleteIris Flavia; hopefully you will remember how to get out if you find yourself in a situation like this. Better that you never do.
DeleteI'm sure he deserves it. Most men do.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week.
