Wednesday's Words on a Friday

 

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

Here is my story:

Inwardly she cowered at the waves of hostility emanating from him, outwardly she determined to look as calm as possible. He sneered as he braced his arms either side of her, effectively pinning her against the wall of the hardware store. "Cat got your tongue, girlfriend? Too good for us now that you've moved east of the bridge?"

"I'm not your girlfriend, I never was your girlfriend, you cheating scumbag. Any relationship between us was only in your mind and after what you did to my cousin, I can't bear the sight of you!"

Looking him squarely in the eyes, she raised her knee hard and fast, the resulting gasp and painful moaning giving her a measure of satisfaction as he lowered his arms and curled into a ball on the floor.

She walked away without a single backward glance.
