Sunday Selections #779
In search of Pink
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
Charlotte's colour of the month is Electric Rose.
In the past I have known this as Neon Pink (80s) and further back as Hot Pink (70s)
Finding things in this colour isn't easy, but what I found in my own home comes pretty close, so here they are, my pink things:
NOT in my home, this crepe myrtle is in the nearby Woolies carpark
Also NOT in my home, this escaped balloon was blowing around in the carpark of the Arkaba Hotel and was captured by a young man right after I snapped this photo.
a neon rainbow shoelace, once one of a pair, this one now holds back the bedsheet curtain by the front door here when I need to get my shopping trolley through the door
some of the diamonds on the shopping trolley fit the Electric Rose shade.
Electric Rose flowers on the small zippered pouch I use when travelling
Tropical flowers on one of my umbrellas, these frangipani are mostly pink
and who doesn't like bright blue butterflies?
my other umbrella has pinks around the top stem and foliage plus toucans on the rest.
my folding fan which is quite old has electric pink in the flowers
many of the folding sections have stickytape holding them together
Electric Rose on my insulated water bottle
pink lettering on this DVD cover
and a pink spine on this one, "Mannequin"
one of my fridge magnets has pink lettering
and I almost missed this electric rose spatula which I have used daily for almost thirty years
the new cover for my new kindle is more electric pink than the photo shows.
last but not least,
the nail brush in my bathroom, probably the only pink thing in that room.

It's surprising the different colours to be found around the house. It's the details that count.
ReplyDeletejabblog; I'm surprised I had so much pink in so many shades.
DeleteWow, you've got a lot of great pinks in your place! Glad you didn't miss that spatula. Isn't it funny how we can use something every day and just not "see" it after a while?
ReplyDeleteDebra She Who Seeks; it's true, I only noticed that spatula and the nail brush right before I scheduled the post.
DeleteThis was an interesting exercise in making you look closely at the things that surround you every day. I like your frangipani umbrella!
ReplyDeleteSteve Reed; after so many years we become immune to our surroundings I think and details get lost. I love that umbrella, it's a good size and keeps me and my backpack dry.
DeleteYou found a lot of pinks. I don't think I have any pink in my house. Now that I wrote that I will have to check and see. LOL have a nice Valentine's day.
ReplyDeleteDVArtist; i'm surprised I found so many oinks and there are probably more that I didn't see yet, you should take a look around and post what you find.
DeleteI find it interesting that every time a 'new' color appears it has a different name than every other time.
ReplyDeleteKathy G; that surprises me too, I guess those who name the colours hope that it might tempt people into buying.
DeleteThere is a pink sticky note right in front of me. The search is over.
ReplyDeleteMike; you found your pink 😀
DeleteYou found quite a few! Lovely! Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteJenn Jilks; I found more than I expected too. I don't do Valentine's Day.
DeleteThat's a lot of pink! I think the only thing I have is a measuring tablespoon that is currently out of sight in the sugar canister.
ReplyDeleteVal; ooh! I also have a pink measuring scoop, it is in the container if NPK that I sprinkle into my pot plants a few times a year. I'll have to take a photo of it.
DeleteYou've found lots of pink. The only pink thing in my living area is a Valentine's Day card. Mind, I've seen lots of pink things enter my home over the last eighteen months.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; you could ask the boys to bring them out for photographs?
Deletemany Pinkables- I love pink in those shades, rich and warm and they all look edible. Lovely umbrella! That would make rainy days seem cheerful. Great activity looking around for one thing and finding many. I am drinking pink tea fro this occasion.
ReplyDeleteLinda Sue; pink tea? I like the richer shades of most colours, while my mum was a pastel lover. I actually had fun looking for all the pink around here.
DeleteThe tropical look on the umbrellas with pink frangipani and blue butterflies look lush. The only trouble is umbrellas are closed when they are inside the house, and up high above the head when it is being used in the rain. Can those colours be used for something seen more often in the house eg a table cloth left on the kitchen table?
ReplyDeleteHels; those colours could be used anywhere else but I don't have a cloth on my table anymore, not since Angel jumped, missed and grabbed with claws so everything went sliding many years ago. I may have ctablecloths again after Lola eventually passes. I would love a shower curtain that looks like my frangipani umbrella.
DeleteWow, you found pinks all over! This week, I did Mardi Gras decor I've seen, but I need to try for more Pink photos next week.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; I love Mardi Gras decorations! I hope you are able to find more pink.
DeleteWell done with finding many things that you were looking for. The only pink in the room that I am sitting in is the cat carrier, which is pastel - although the curtains are magenta, so perhaps they MIGHT squeak in?
ReplyDeletejeanie; a pink cat carrier sounds nice, mine is ugly magenta and grey, the only option available at Cheap as Chips when I needed one. I think the curtains might be a little dark to pass for electric (neon/hot) pink.
DeleteThey look stunning
ReplyDeleteRuby Rose and the Big Little Angels 3; thank you.
DeleteYou certainly have a lot of pink things and that particular colour is ever so pretty, R. My Kindle cover is a similar pink to yours if not the same.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D; did you buy your kindle cover from ebay? It could be exactly the same.
DeleteMind you, River (I´m back!!) I had a pink phase in my late 20´s and drove people nuts, LOL. You might see what I might buy some other day.... might...
ReplyDeleteIris; I never had a pink phase, it was always too girly for me and even now I don't have pink clothes. Now I am curious about what you might buy.
DeleteLovely seeing all this pink (my favourite colour)
ReplyDeleteThat crepe myrtle is beautiful.
All the best Jan
Well done River, that was truly amazing. I'm not much of a fan of pink and would have to hunt really hard to find that colour in my home.
ReplyDeleteI love all your bits and pieces.
