Sunday Selections #789

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.

It's quiet out in the porch

and empty too

the girls have abandoned their chilly porch home

in favour of some inside warmth

Hello, I am Riley. My sisters are Jordan with the ponytail, Meg with the little black bow and Gillian who always wears pink.

Of course Ruffy the dog wants to join in the fun

He's very cute, we love him.

A recent downpour saw gutters become ponds big enough for splashing in.

here's a short video showing the raindrops falling hard almost like hail.

Just before I opened the screen door for the previous two photos I noticed this moth/butterfly on the outside, he took off once I opened the door so I couldn't get a better picture

pretty purple, it's quite a large vine but I don't remember what it is.

half a bicycle left by a stobie pole

The intersection roadworks blockage along South Road at Thebarton which meant I couldn't get to the Big W store at the Brickworks Market. I thought about walking all the way around that block and coming in from the Western end but by the time I got back to the nearest east/west main road I was knackered and just wanted to go home, so I waited for a bus and ordered the items on line via "no-one".

once upon a time, I had a linen cupboard/closet, floor to ceiling,

loads of space! Now most of this is crammed into several  chests of drawers and a cabinet in the back porch, with some going to the opshop/thrift store. My unit is the only one in the entire complex that doesn't have linens storage. I do have a bigger shower cubicle than most...

Brother's friend "whatshisname" went fishing out in the ocean,

caught some beauties,

quite a haul! He will share with brother who told me what type of fish they are but I have forgotten.

    1. Dora; I crossed once from Germany to Australia, but was only a baby and don't remember it. I have taken a ferry ride around Sydney harbour and another from Fremantle to Rottnest Island. I love being on the water.

    1. Lowcarb team member; it is a good haul, and if I lived closer I might have got a share. But we have fish markets here in Adelaide to I can buy from them.

  6. Who knitted the girls' jumpers? They look excellent, perfect for winter.

    1. hels; I have no idea who knitted the jumpers, I bought them from ebay years ago and they were made for Barbie dolls, so they are a little large but the girls don't mind.

  7. That's a good effect showing the moth through the screen.
Is the flowering plant clematis? It grows along railway lines here.
I've been thwarted when on foot by road or building works. What might be slightly annoying for a young person, can send people like me back home again, especially if I've already walked some distance.
The fish is a monster. If it was tuna, you would have remembered that. I don't have a clue.

    1. Andrew; I thought the moth was very pretty through the screen. I shall walk back to the flowering vine today and take another photo and the plant ID app will tell me what it is and this time I shall write it down.
I really did plan to walk around that block, but the day was hot and I had already travelled on two buses just to get there and suddenly it was too much for me.
I thought the fish might be salmon, but it isn't.

  8. I always enjoy your selections. We get rains like this sometimes and it’s rather scary.

  9. Oh that sad bike, the owner must be heartbroken. Do you knit the girls' outfits? Brilliant. And that fish, some eatin'.
