Words for Wednesday

 

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.

    Impulsive I can only come up with this:
    I sure do love the series Golden Girls and laughed my head off when in Toy story they referred to it pointing to Shady Pines - I think that is the spice and glue of life - connecting old and new and everything is a happy Jade Green!
    It helps against glum evenings, too...

    And I hope for a much better story on Friday!

    Aquí vos deixo el meu:

    Un detectiu ha estat avisat després que un alumne descobrís un estrany missatge mentre feia un treball sobre una nova espècia picant. Segons li han explicat, el jove s'havia aturat a pensar com acabar la cartolina quan, en fer servir les tisores i la cola, va trobar un petit pegat amagat sota una fotografia. Al costat hi havia uns números escrits a mà que ningú no sabia interpretar. Tot i estar una mica trist perquè el treball havia quedat interromput, l'alumne va acompanyar el detectiu fins al pati, després d'haver-se menjat un plàtan... —Era més important no deixar l'esmorzar a mitges!— va pensar, mentre el mirava de reüll...
    La investigació es va allargar fins al vespre. Amb la llum d'una làmpada, el detectiu va observar que l'ombra d'un arbre assenyalava un punt de la gespa verda, il·luminada pels últims reflexos daurats del sol. De moment, la policia no ha volgut revelar què hi van trobar.

Sunday Selections #754

 Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally. Brother R came to visit and brought me some old paperwork belonging to my dad, who has been dead for 25 and a half years now.  They'd been stored in a container with moth balls and were quite stinky so I pegged them out on the clothes rack in the back porch three days later, most are now inside, but the heavier items such as dad's passports are still smelly so they are still out there. dented or otherwise damaged cans, what do you do?

This article in yesterday's paper caught my eye. Looks like mould to me. But. Forget the sensational headline for a minute and focus on the can. Notice how it's a little blackened around the bottom rim? I'm not sure it shows, but it looks like the can has been standing in wet conditions, the wrapper looks a little wrinkled too at top and bottom. Was it like this when it was bought?  If yes, why buy it?  If no, then how was it stored in the home environment?  Use by date. Usually irrelevant, unless the can has been opened. We all know that once a can is opened the contents need to be used immediately, especially baby foods. She mentions somewhere in the story that the contents appeared "a bit runny". This happens when  food is given to the baby directly from the can, (or jar) with saliva from the baby's mouth being transferred to the contents, which then begins to break down the molecular structure of the canned food.
