Sunday Selections # 811
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
Charlotte's colour of the month is Smoky Rose:
which looks to me a bit like milk chocolate puddingBeginning today with this month's calendar pages:
Isn't he magnificent in his top hat?

sent by "no-one" this cute little display under a tree
"no-one" also gave me this cute little llama to take to the twins,
but Astra has claimed it for herself "a fluffy little pony just my size," she said
some sleeping young bulls at the Royal Show held here last month, "no-one" and her bestie went with the bestie's two young sons and her sisters and their children, quite the crowd
Alpacas, I think
and baby goats. The twins also went to the show with their entire family, but I don't have any photos from them yet.
again sent by "no-one" this pennyfarthing was in the showgrounds too.
late afternoon ray of sunlight coming in through my screen door, highlighting two of the gnomes and all the dust on the TV bench there. In case you can't make it out her chest reads "Born to Ride", they are Biker Gnomes.
watering the garden a couple of Sundays ago, I noticed an ambulance close to where a friend lives, so off I went to see what was happening (ignore that white line, a fault in the downloading process)
90 years old neighbour who recently had a pacemaker inserted, has been falling over inside her flat, when I got there, the ambos were talking to her and to my eyes she seemed very shrunken and confused, I was shocked! Anyway, it was decided she would ask for more home help and when I visited a week later she was much more her usual self. What a relief!
the second flush of wattle is now blooming everywhere
look at those beautifully golden puff balls!
on my way home from the shops I saw this broken branch down between a fence and a car
here, just under that brown knot is where it tore from
it's from one of my favourite trees, a native frangipani
so what's happening in your corner of the world?

Great photos, and glad your elderly neighbour is okay and doing better. Love the Biker Gnomes!
ReplyDeleteDebra She Who Seeks; thank you. I am glad she is doing better too, though I don't visit as often as I used to. She has some fairly strong beliefs that don't align with mine, so we back-and-forth a bit, agree to disagree then I go home...
DeleteThe livestock pictures remind me of going to the Missouri State Fair when I was a teenager. I loved walking through the barns to see the show animals, and sitting in the arena to watch kids show their entries. My favorite activity was the horse jumping. I liked it even more than the foot-long corn dogs, and games, and rides on the midway.
ReplyDeleteVal; I didn't go to the show much when I was a kid and spent most of my time on the rides and trying to win prizes at the stalls.
DeleteWattle look fabulous! We also have shows like that, and I used to bring my kids. The sleeping bulls are impressive.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte; I love the wattle too, it says summer is coming. The sleeping bulls look huge to me and they aren't full grown yet!
DeleteVery scary with your neighbour.
ReplyDeleteThe calendar is supercool. As is the rainbow llama!
I can´t remember the occasion but in the SC in Madeley they once had lifestock!
Biker Gnomes! LOL.
The wattle is beautiful. Is that caled "weed"? I must look but I bought a chain at the Freo Markets holding some! (in my defense... that was years ago)
Here a very quiet, tired weekend. Ingo getting a cold and I´m so tired, too. Can only get better! :-)
Iris; I was scared for the neighbour when I saw her looking so tiny and fiddling with the buttons on her dressing gown as she tried to answer questions from the ambos. They were asking how much help she has and what they do for her and can she still shower herself, (yes she can) stuff like that. Mostly her carers vacuum the rugs and feed the cats and clear the cat litter trays. Now she has one who comes and washes her dishes too.
DeleteI love my Biker Gnomes and wish I could find a toy motor bike their size.
The wattle is NOT a weed, it is Australia's national tree, family name is Acacia and there are many varieties.
I hope Ingo is soon better and you too.
Glad your neighbour has help! Oh, must (!!!!) find the description and the chain! Chances are good as I´m decluttering...
DeleteI've been playing a bit with monster photos, starting with monsters at the cafe and putting them in different backgrounds. I'll post one tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAnvilcloud; that sounds interesting, I'll make a note to come and see.
DeleteBeautiful photos! The calendar is cool!
ReplyDeleteLinda's Relaxing Lair; thank you, I love the sugar skull calendars and try to have one every year and I keep them after. Maybe one day I will frame each picture and hang them all the way around the walls just under the cornice.
DeleteThe October calendar page is excellent.
ReplyDeleteLast time I visited the zoo was with children I swore never again, and I haven't.
That's a concern with your neighbour. I hope there is a daily check on her welfare.
The blooming wattles always mean improving weather. It's a bit sad about the frangipani but I guess that is just nature at work.
Andrew; thank you. I remember taking my oldest grandchildren to the zoo here when the boy was still in a stroller and that's when I discovered just how far away from the toilets everything was. And how large an area the zoo covers. I haven't been in a very long time and don't even know if they still have polar bears and bison. The neighbour has daily carers to help with the cats and to vacuum and wash dishes, there's really not much else they can do, she still showers and dresses herself, then sits in her chair and reads a lot.
DeleteGood selection and the native frangipani is pretty, shame about the limb falling out.
ReplyDeleteYour neighbour, I'm glad she is ok after her visit to hospital.
Time flies as I only realized the show season has begun here too, the first one being in Burnie along the northwest coast. I just love that llama, it is so cute, R.
Margaret D; I suspect a heavy wind took down that branch and was glad the car right there had a decent cover over it so the paintwork didn't get scratched. The neighbour is back to her usual self now, though another younger neighbour is failing and will soon move to the nursing home. The llama is vey cute, the redheads love it too, but only three can ride at once.
DeleteLindas fotos e o "ninguém" colaborou bastante!
ReplyDeletebeijos, lindo dia! chica
chica; thank you, the "no-one" is one of my children.
DeleteNice photos, I love the alpacas, they have such beautiful eyes with long eyelashes ! So far none has ever spit on me !
ReplyDeleteIngrid; These were baby alpacas and I have never seen one in real life, only in photos or magazine/newspaper pictures or on TV.
DeleteA nice collection of photos and I’m glad your neighbor is doing better with more help.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; thank you, I am glad she has accepted more help.
DeleteLovely shot of that wattle. I am unfamiliar with this bush/tree. Love your calendar and the cute drawings on it.

Wisewebwoman; thank you, Wattle is Australia's National tree, it has several varieties and differing types of golden flower. My favourite was the very pale golden lemon scented one, but it is no longer here, the block is filled with townhouses now.
DeleteI do like fairs.
ReplyDeleteDora; I don't go anymore, there are always too many people for my comfort.
DeleteThank you for sharing such awesome photos
ReplyDeleteRuby Rose and the Big Little Angels 3; thank you, you're always welcome.
DeleteThat frangipani looks a great deal like my beloved tea olives which also have a heavenly scent. I looked them up though, and they are not related. I surely would have thought they were.
ReplyDeleteMs. Moon; thank you for dropping in. The flowers are similar, but the tea olive is prettier I think and more heavily scented. The native frangipani has pale flowers almost white which darken to yellow as they age and eventually drop to make a carpet of gold under the tree. Tea olive is probably closely related to actual olive trees.
DeleteSo pleased that your elderly neighbour is okay and doing better now.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the wattle in bloom.
I enjoyed seeing all your photographs here.
Have a good week.
All the best Jan
lowcarb team member; thank you, I am also pleased the neighbour is doing well now. Wattle blooming everywhere is a sure sign summer is on the way.
DeleteLove the varied selections.
ReplyDeleteThe calendar drawings are delightful, and that rainbow llama made me smile.
I’m glad your neighbour is doing better with more help, and the wattle in bloom is just gorgeous.
Veronica Lee; thank you. I love my Sugar Skulls calendars and get one every year. The rainbow llama was intended for the twins, but they have a puppy who might decide it is his and then it will be destroyed, so I have kept it for now. I am also glad the neighbour has more help.
DeleteThat pennyfarthing at the showground made me smile, I'd never dare climb on one of those. Glad your neighbour is doing better too. And the Biker Gnomes are great.
ReplyDeletehttps://canalsandcitrus.blogspot.com
Diana; thank you. I would never climb on one of those either, the seat is too far away from the ground! I love my Biker Gnomes and have another pair in a smaller size, but they are packed away for now.
DeleteThat is nice that you're helping her and I'm glad she's gonna be okay. Too bad about the tree. We had a few tornados this year and they touched down. Minor damages on the last touch down. That no one spoils you and I love that.
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Whisk; I am not helping the neighbour, she has aged-care-helpers coming in, I just go to visit and talk for a while.
DeleteI love the wattle and the frangipani (though not the broken branch). What a scary experience for your neighbor! I'm glad she seems more herself.
ReplyDeleteSteve Reed; the broken branch is cleared away now. I heard this was not the neighbours first fall, when I went there she had fallen just that morning after also falling the evening before and a few times earlier in the week, now THAT is scary, she is more fragile than she thinks in my opinion anyway. She needs to remember her balance isn't so good when she is carrying a tray or plate with her breakfast on it. I suggested she put the tray on the seat of her walker and wheel it to where she sits to eat. Her carers don't come early enough in the morning. I think she needs to change that, but she is stubborn.
