Wednesday's Words on a Friday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.

This month the words/prompts are supplied by Sean Jeating and can be found here

This week's words/prompts are:

1.children  2.couple  3.emancipated  4.fun  5.idyll

and/or:

Charlotte's colour of the month is Smoky Rose

Here is my story:

While eating their fish and chips and being careful not to drop any, Marjorie said to no one in particular, "it's an idyllic life style." "What idyllic lifestyle do you mean?" asked Sally. "Childhood," said Marjorie who appeared to be quite present instead of away in the clouds. "There's a couple of children down by Cassie's castle, having wonderful fun with a castle they just happened to find."

All of them turned to watch for a moment, then Alan said, "it's often a peaceful time, childhood that is, things are simple up to a certain age, but it changes once they start school and learn more about the world." Everyone agreed that was true, the Cassie said, "and here we are all of us 80 or over, living peacefully as we did as children, with outings and people caring for us."

Gordon agreed, "we've come full circle, as those children eventually will." He began gathering debris from the fish and chips, the paper wrappings and empty tartare sauce packets to take to the nearest rubbish bins, while Sally and Doug wrote down what flavour ice creams each person wanted.

"After the icecreams are finished, we'll all visit the toilet block before getting back on the bus," said Sally, "it will be time to start heading home by then, so make sure you have everything with you, because we can't be turning back."

Cassie began counting dolls and castle building pieces while Alan declared he had brought nothing at all with him and Denise checked her handbag to make sure none of her things had spilled out while she was kicking waves earlier.
