the dress

you've all wanted to see it, so here it is, in all its long, loose fitting, ummm….. dowdiness? the disappointing part was I felt cold most of the time so I kept on my long, wrap-style cardigan and the dress hardly got seen.

long and loose - shapeless, just like me

sunray pleats from top to bottom with a tie belt

the gold design almost echoes...

the band on my "good" watch, which I bought just for the wedding,

which has a little bling around the face.

  1. NOT dowdy at all. Understated elegance.

    1. Elephant's Child; thank you. I probably could have chosen flashier jewellery and really wished I could have found a warmer coat/jacket/wrap. But everything in my price range was the wrong colour. Still, it was a lovely wedding and I had a great time.

  2. I agree with Elephant's Child not at all dowdy. Very pretty indeed!

I'm feeling cold all the time now, so long cardies are the go-to for me.. I got a gorgeous one from Rivers, it is maroon chenille. ;)

    1. Snoskred; I've found I can't wear anything from Rivers, it all seems to be made for narrow people and I'm definitely much rounder. I'd hoped my long cardi/wrap would be warm enough, but now I have plenty of time to look for something warmer to wear next time the dress gets an airing. Maroon chenille sounds lovely.

  3. Don't sell yourself short, River. You're a good-looking woman, and your dress is lovely. And I'll bet you looked lovely in it...with your matching watch.

Long and loose is great (I'm referring to the dress!) :)

    1. Lee; thank you. Long and loose is definitely more comfortable :) I saw more than a few women wearing things so tight they looked sprayed on and several people had to keep adjusting things.

  4. I think you must have looked pretty glam and a magnet for any gay man who might be present. Hmm, she looks interesting.

    1. Andrew; I did get a conversation with a couple of other guests, men, who wandered over to where I was standing alone looking at the view, having moved away from a small crowd of smokers. This was before we all moved inside when the tables were ready. I surprised myself by managing a conversation. It was nice.

    1. Arkansas Patti; thank you. I'm not sure I managed 'style' but I felt comfortable and that helps a lot.

  6. Not at all dowdy! The close-up reveals the pattern, and you chose well with that watch.

    1. Val; I bought the watch first a few months ago, thinking I'd have something nice to wear at the wedding and the dress pattern was a happy accident.

    1. peppylady(Dora); it was very comfortable, although cold, even with the lining and my long wrap cardi on. Thank you, I felt lovely.

    1. jenny_o; that's what I like about it, although I don't wear dresses usually, I could use this one again, with different shoes and maybe a more glam bag. And a warmer coat.

  12. It's a lovely dress, and I bet you looked lovely in it. Not at ALL dowdy, you silly woman. So howcum we don't get to see a pic of you wearing the dress...? (And I love that your watch kinda matched it...)

  13. There is absolutely NOTHING about that dress that is dowdy. It is a beautiful dress and it looks cool. Comfort is key to anything I wear. If it's not comfortable I won't be comfortable in any gathering. The watch brought it all in together. I'm sure you looked fabulous!
