Words for Wednesday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.

This month the words/prompts are supplied by ME and can be found right here

This week's words/prompts are:

1. the two Colins

2. rambunctious

3. purple tie

4. apple pie

Let the creativity begin!

  1. Are "The two Colins" somebody known, or are they only a product of your imagination - googling does not turn up anything, but a negative is not conclusive ;) Thanks in advance.

    1. Charlotte; the two Colins are a figment of my imagination. Two boys or men, both named Colin.

  2. The two Colins were as different as chalk and cheese. Colin the first was as sweet as apple pie. Colin the second? Rambunctious was a charitable way to describe him. He was a prankster, a fibber and only looked out for himself. He was most definitely number one in his eyes and would have been offended if he knew that I had described him as Colin the second.
They were cousins, but so alike to look at that they could have been twins. Colin the second’s purple tie was a giveaway though. If he knew how much I relied on it I am sure he would have ditched it in a heart beat.

    1. Elephant's Child; what are you doing inside my head? I had a similar idea fermenting. Love it. I'll think of something else to write.

  3. It was bad enough already having the four rambunctious little brats next door running wild and out of control throughout the neighbourhood causing all sorts of mischief, but when the two Colins...both aged 12 years, moved in across the street from each other...immediately it became obvious the time had come to batten down the hatches; or take matters into my own hands!

The noise they’d created tearing up and down the cul-de-sac, pelting rocks and banging on cans had been an annoying, unnecessary distraction, causing me to forget the apple pie I had in the oven. It had burnt to a crisp, beyond salvation.

As I stormed along the garden path, I was so angry I was sure my eyes had turned the colour of the purple tie I was wearing, and my face as red as the peeled skins from the Pink Lady apples!

    1. Uh, oh, they better watch out. Well told!

    2. Lee; great story, those boys had better watch out! Lee is on the warpath! A burnt apple pie must be avenged!

    3. Never, ever think you can cause a woman to burn a pie with impunity.

    4. Sounds like the new neighbour´s-kids who won´t let me in and scream I´m a burglar when I - still being taller - just open the main door fully and march into the house. Happened twice already, I´ll call them Colin now! Balls and stuff they throw on our balcony, too, a pest. Bet they can dance their names.

  4. Next chapter of Unicorn Farm is up as my Words for Wednesday contribution.
