Sunday Selections #503

Long, long ago, in days of yore...Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look.

Let's dive right in, shall we?

This is the mouse mat I bought many years ago when I had a desk top computer. These days I have a laptop and use the finger pad, so this is a place mat now to protect my table top from hot dishes.

Oh no! A murder of crows has descended upon the fairy village!

I was given a small bottle of gold paint, so have been making "pots of gold", now I just need to make the rainbows.

My concrete Leprechaun doorstop also has had a touch of gold added to his pot.

including the padlock and the dropped coin under his boot.

I noticed these are actual old pre-decimal coins, if you enlarge the picture you may see the date 1945 on the sixpence piece there.

Meg was delighted when new clothes arrived for her.

"I think this paintbrush is a little too long"

"this shorter pink one is much better"

"I'm ready to help with the touch-ups now"

discussing Art with Yoda.

making friends with Larry the Llama

workmen spent several weeks putting security screens on all ground floor windows,

even the ones on either side of doors.

my "black" pelargoniums are doing really well,

although they aren't quite as black as I remember, they are still gorgeous.

three sorry looking seedlings are all that remain of the dozens of zinnias that germinated. snails ate the rest are are now happily munching on snail bait instead. I'll be buying more zinnia seeds asap.

out in the back porch quite a lot of work is in progress, this ladder leads from the bench level to a shelf higher up where smaller fairy houses are. I glued together two bird cage ladders which left a gap which I filled in with a twig from the garden, binding it with twine and hanging a Halloween skeleton. There will eventually be a sign attached that reads "trespassers will be hanged"

The fairies even have their own tiny washing line, complete with mini bucket of mini pegs. Those are some of Meg's new (secondhand Barbie) clothes.

    1. WWW; thank you. I had a tricky time trying to get that clothes line hung, reaching across the lower bench and trying to not knock things off it.

    1. Elephant's Child; Meg is very happy here, she has free run of the place, but likes to spend a lot of time chatting with Yoda.

  4. Such a fun array of happiness...things to brighten up the dullest of days and moods. :)

I hope you have a good week ahead, River...cuddles to the lovely Lady Lola. :)

    1. Lee; this week needed a bit of brightening, things are a bit gloomy with Lola being in a hayfever headache mood, hiding under the bed, and too many people knocking on my door at just the wrong moment. I'm glad I have little things like Meg and paint to distract me.

  5. You were enjoying a regular Midas touch there. Liked your pots of gold. Glad you have added to Meg's wardrobe and that clothes line is adorable.

    1. Arkansas Patti; I do like gold, it's my favourite colour, right up there with all the turquoise, aqua and teal blues. The clothesline happened when I came across some tiny pegs meant for hanging Christmas cards. I had a 'light bulb' moment.

  6. Argh. You found the ends of a rainbow. grabbed the pots of gold and captured a Leprechaun. Great fun photos this week.

    1. Andrew; Thank you. I've had the Leprechaun for almost twenty years, he was in the garden in my previous home, but inside here as I didn't want him wandering back to Ireland via a random passerby who thought "I'll have that"

  7. Spring is in your heart, and those new clothes certainly made Meg happy. I do like all the places the gold paint has touched.

    1. Joanne; Meg has more clothes than I do, a neighbour found some Barbie doll clothes in the toy section of a secondhand shop and I'll adjust them to fit Meg. There are more touches of gold to be seen next week.

  8. Oh my gosh! The murder of crows had me worried about the fairies, but then I saw the pots of gold, and forgot all about the possible danger.

    1. Val; how did I miss this comment? Don't worry about the fairies, they were all away at the teddy bear picnic.

  9. Nice fun photos River.
lol Your little man won’t be going far on the farthings (not six penny bits) in his pot :)
It’s a shame you can’t be sure he’d stay put outside your door - you certainly don’t want him to go the way your plants did.
    Take care

  10. When I use my laptop - which I do only seldom, also cause it´s an Aussie one, hence with the keyboard different - I use a mouse.
Fiddling on that pad with the finger drives me nuts! I never would´ve thought a mouse mat resists the heat! (I don´t use one).
Awww, the pots of gold are cute, hope you share the finished work!
Interesting door-stopper, that is. Also with that date.Meg and Yoda, LOL! And Larry, very cute with that happy grin.
Sad you need security screens,at least they look wonderful. Beautiful flowers and yum to snail bait, haha...
Awww, the tiny clothesline - thank you for the smiles today!

    1. Iris Flavia; I got used to the finger pad very quickly and prefer it to a mouse. The mousemat has a rubber backing, so it doesn't slide around when using a mouse, so it is excellent as a placemat. I'm glad you like all my little bits and pieces.

    Do like that skeleton..

    1. Margaret D; the skeleton is from Woolies, they have lots of Halloween stuff, and the skeletons are in packs of six. I'll have to think of some way to use the other five.
