Sunday Selections # 526

Long, long ago, in days of yore...Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others, like Andrew. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look.

A mixed selection today:

a couple of Easter meerkats have come to stay

Meg and Gillian discovered my old slippers make decent sleeping bags

one of my tomato flowers, don't know why my fingers are looking so pink, they aren't that colour at all!
The tomatoes haven't survived, they all got crispified in last Saturday's heat and I pulled them out on the Monday morning.

mid-late afternoon sun highlighting the flowers on the rosemary bush, this was so tiny when first planted

now it is taller than me

Gillian is very happy that her new dress (ebay)  fits so well

Gillian: "can you play?"  Meg: "a little"  Gillian: "great!"

"you play and I'll dance " 😀

I have a new hanging plant, one from the philodendron family, a sister perhaps to the devil's ivy type

I don't remember what this is, but I'm a little surprised at how much it has grown over the summer, it was just barely peeping over the pot when I first hung it there.

Lola looking resigned and unhappy at being in the carrier. her summer allergies were giving trouble again, migraines and itching skin causing her to scratch great swathes of skin off and hiding under the bed away from any light.

home again after two shots and having her claws trimmed, we call that her twice yearly manicure, look at her eyes, "Go away and let me sleep!"

this is the coffee mug pattern on my hotplate covers, cheerful, yes?

and finishing with a decent shot of the half-moon several days ago.

  1. I don't think Lola properly appreciates your taking her to the vet.

    1. joeh; no she doesn't, but I can't just stand by while she suffers her migraines and itching skin, so off to the vet we go, four to five times each season.

  2. Oh my gosh singing from the top of the piano that's classy and adventurous makes me want to do the same! hehehehe! Your photo for this posting immediately caught my attention, so adorable!

  3. I like your burner covers, being a burner cover fan as you know!

Great photos of the girls having a good time. And poor Lola. I hope she's back to feeling good again.

    1. WWW; I like my burners covered from splatter, the covers are easy to take to the sink and wash and brighten up the kitchen at the same time.
Lola is always fine almost as soon as we get home. The headache relief is the biggest thing and I'm glad the shot she gets for that works so quickly.

  4. Your Orphans are lovely , the slippers are perfect for them. Sorry Lola is feeling blue, well manicured but not so glad about it.
Wonderful shots of this and that and a sad tomato , ours are the size of marbles, not doing so well under the grow light. Your plant that shot up looks like a lily in one of our pots that just grows and grows for no good reason!

    1. Linda Sue' the slippers will be perfect when winter sets in, the girls will be snuggly and warm at night. Lola is much better now, the headaches are really debilitating for her during pollen season, we go to the vet several times. The tomatoes are no more :( and I don't think I'll try again. I'll stick to what I know will grow. I do hope that plant isn't a lily that flowers since I am allergic to the pollen.

  5. Your selections this week are a heap of fun. Meg and Gillian look to be excellent friends already. Poor Lola. I hope that her allergy treatment worked well. Jazz has had a few vet visits too - and will have more but (fingers crossed) he is feeling a bit better at the moment. When he gets up this morning I will feed him his tablet - and hope it goes down easily.

    1. Elephant's Child; Meg and Gillian hit it off right away, the minute Gillian came home, she was family. Lola's treatment works well, but the season is long and we have to visit the vet four or five times each year from September to February or March. If I could get Lola to swallow tablets we could cut the vet visits, but she is likely to rip off my arms while I try. Fingers crossed for Jazz :)
      And you.

  6. Loved seeing the girls in their sleeping bags. So cozy and who knew they were musical? Oh you did for you got them the piano.
Poor Lola, she obviously doesn't think the vet triip was necessary but good on you for taking her.

    1. Arkansas Patti; I wish Lola would remember that a visit to the vet equals no more migraine for a while. The girls had great fun with the piano, but now they've discovered something else....

  7. Oh, poor little Lola...how sad it is she has to suffer so. I hope she is feeling much, much better now. Dear little girl. Give her special cuddles for me and from my two furry rascals.

I hope the week ahead is less stressful for you both...take care. :)

    1. Lee; Lola is much better now and will stay that way now the weather is cooling, this is a spring/summer set of allergies she has. It's good to see her appetite returned.

  8. The rosemary is monstrous and so healthy looking. Unlike lavender, it doesn't have dead growth at its base. It's a very decent shot of the moon. Gillian was a table top dancer?

    1. Andrew; the rosemary is lovely, I brush my hands along it whenever I pass to smell the fragrance. I'm glad the moon shot came out, my hands were wobbling all over the place as I tried to zoom in. I have no idea of Gillian's past life and she just smiles at me when I ask.

  9. If my cat only knew, he would be sympathetic to Lola and lick her ears.
Meg and Gillian make me smile. That little dress is the cat's meow.

    1. Joanne; I'll thank Toby even though there hasn't been any ear licking. Lola is much better now and should stay that way until September. The little dress is perfect. I only ordered one in case it didn't fit, but when I saw how perfect the fit is I contacted the seller to let her know I am happy to order more if she makes them.

  12. I was a little bit shocked to click on your link and see MEERKATS! I was expecting Meg and Gillian! Who look like they belong in those sleeping-slippers. The dress fits Gillian as if it was tailored to her measurements. She must be quite outgoing to belt out songs on top of the piano!

    1. Val; I hope you weren't so shocked you spilled your diet coke. I don't know anything about Gillian's past, maybe she was a showgirl, but she isn't telling. I'll let her keep her secrets. I'm hoping to get more of the dresses in different colours. I have contacted the seller.

  13. Ohhh... the first reminds me of the PJ´s my Swiss Auntie always brought us - one piece. Oh, darn it if you needed to go pee in the middle of the night, LOL. They even had "feet". No bunny-ears, though.

And the meerkat-ad we always saw in Perth, some insurance-company...

    Ohhh, the sleeping bag-girls!

Sad about your tomatoes. Hope my strawberries made it through winter...
Cuuuute dress! Need to post a pic of Elmo and Kuhni, MIL sewed dresses for them when we went to Australia :-) You know, the sun burns so hot, they needed protection (not that she took care of us!).
Ohhh, the piano! Can I come visit?

    Oh, poor, sweet Lola!
    And the half moon!

    1. Iris Flavia; I would hate to wear one piece pjyamas. I remember the meerkat insurance ads, we still have them here, not the same, a newer ad.
I hope your strawberries made it through winter, they should, Alpine strawberries do.

  14. That rosemary bush is seriously impressing. Do you have a faible for Mewrcats? Those are nit the first ones we've seen.

    1. Charlotte; the rosemary bush seems to be in the perfect growing position. Does "faible" mean story or tale? I get the meerkats from the local supermarket, they bring out seasonally dressed ones for times like Christmas and Easter, and I have a few others in other costumes. I have shown some before, but a long time ago.

    2. Faible is French, meaning weaknes or soft spot. ;) It is used in English as well, but not as much as I thgought Sorry.
I remember your meercats wery well because it is such a funny word for me.

  17. Those meerkats are kind of cute a bit freaky when view close up.

Gillian is adorable in new dress.

I'm envy of those who can keep plants alive. I really have no such talent.

    Have a lovely day.

    1. Fresca; thank you, I was very pleased to find the dress fit so well and have now ordered a few more in different colours. The rosemary is in the garden a bi away from my unit, a neighbour planted it a few years before she moved to a nursing home. Lola is much better now.

  19. Poor Lola! I didn't even realize cats got migraine headaches. She's lucky her "staff" takes such good care of her.

Your rosemary bush is lovely. I used to have one that big, but we had such a lengthy period of heavy rain a couple years ago, its roots essentially rotted. I started a new bush this year... in a different location where it won't be drenched by water run-off from the house roof... so hopefully, it'll thrive. Nothing like fresh herbs!

Take care, sweet lady, and Happy Easter! (Your meerkats are adorable.)

    1. Susan; I had no idea cats or dogs got migraines until I got Lola, who stayed until the bed until I dragged her out and took her to the vet. He took one look at her eyes and said " this poor little girl has a migraine" and gave her a shot. Like my own migraines, Lola's are mostly glare and hayfever related, she also has spring/summer skin allergies, so we go off to the vet several times between September and March each year.
Rosemary bushes prefer dry conditions, good luck with your new one.

    1. MM; she is beautiful, soft and silky too. We finally got used to each other after a couple of years and a bit, she was eight and a half years old when I got her from the Animal Welfare Shelter. I don't know what her life was like before then, but every time I walked into a room where she was, Lola would skitter off quick smart. Now she almost never does that and sleeps every evening on the raised footrest of my TV recliner chair and in winter sleeps in bed with me.
