Sunday Selections # 601

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to them and have a look.

I received a parcel in the mail last week, whatever could it be?

I opened the lid and up popped a head and a tail

It's a bear! In a Pirate shirt!  "Whew! Thank you for getting me out." he said. "I'm very pleased to meet you and finally be here." He came all the way from Germany, via Perth.

Here he is getting to know Lola, who doesn't seem very keen on the idea, but she didn't run away.

here is Bear getting to know Harvey Banana on the right, and Cousin Hugo on the left.

The redheaded dolls have declared his name to be Cookie.

I read on the internet from several people that salted caramel ice cream is pretty good stuff, so I bought this small tub to try it. They were right! It's amazing!

the buds on the Caribbean Lily look almost ready to open

in the corner by my steps I have 6 bags of tomato, vegetable and herb growing mix, I hope it's enough

throughout the garden I have this rectangular tub for carrots,

this round half-barrel style for bush beans

and this large bucket style for potatoes, just as an experiment. Planting will be done tomorrow.

Here is J enjoying his very first Father's Day last Sunday, that's Genevieve with her fist to her mouth and Anastasia poking her tongue out. I think.

happy baby one, probably Anastasia because there's that tongue again

and happy baby two, Genevieve. Unless I have them mixed up.

Finally, Philip and Elizabeth, together forever, again. 💖💖💖💖

  1. Cookie looks mighty content, glad to be there, with Ice cream and celebration! Planting just as we are harvesting- end of the season. End of the
    Queen.

    1. Oh, and the baby girls are soooo adorable!!

    2. Linda Sue; it's good that the seasons are opposite, it means at least half the world is producing foods to be shared with the other half. The babies are so huggable! I can't wait to see them again, it's been months!

  2. I love the expression on your son's face. It is as if he has won the state lottery and in a way I suppose he has with those two little darlings! I won't be leaving a picture of my own as I specialise in rude and vulgar images. I believe I have flagged this up before. It's just not fair!

    1. Yorkshire Pudding; J certainly did win the baby lottery, this is the first pair of twins ever to be born in either family, he is so proud and they are adorable with happy natures. I'm sure you could find at least one picture that isn't rude or vulgar. one of your many countryside photos perhaps.

  3. Another delightful Sunday Selections. You are going to be busy in the garden. Busy - and productive. I really don't like salted caramel but accept that I am in the minority. And the twins are gorgeous. Of course.

    1. Elephant's Child; I think once things get planted all I have to do is water and keep the possums away if I can. I need to toss around some fertiliser too, the leaves on the potted plants are yellowing. The saltiness of the caramel was a shock for the first mouthful, but after that I got used to it, but I won't buy this very often. One day I will tell the twins all the nice things people said about them here.

  5. During this very sad time, it's wonderful to see the smiling faces of the beautiful bubs.

Take good care, River...I hope the week ahead treats you well. Cuddles to the lovely Lady Lola...who has a new friend to cuddle, I see. :)

    1. Lee; I hoped the babies would help. The sadness will ease with time. Lola really prefers I don't put toys next to her, but she didn't seem to mind Cookie too much.

  6. Love Bear's smile.
You know it is funny. Seeing those happy babies one can't help but smile too. It is impossible not to. Looks like G is working on her "laugh out loud" image.

    1. Arkansas Patti; Cookie Bear has a lovely big smile. I'm wondering if the girls are laughing out loud by now, they are 14 weeks old. They put a huge smile on my face with every photo I see.

  7. I've never tasted caramel ice cream. I worry that I won't like it and have wasted $$. Should I?

Bears, Lola and plants can't compete with the lovely twins.

    1. Of course I meant 'salted'.

    2. Andrew; I worried about wasting money too and as it turned out I did waste some on a different type of ice cream, "Burnt Butter Caramel", I tasted about three teaspoonfuls, then let the rest melt and washed it down the sink, it was so awful. but the salted caramel was nice. Very salty with the first taste, but I got used to that quickly, but it is very sweet too. Maybe find an ice creamery where you can try a scoop in a cone without the expense of a tub. Nothing compares with the twins and their smiles.

  8. What a relief for that bear to be out of the box!. Happy planting, happy babies. Good to go.

    1. Joanne; just about everything is good to go here, it's been a cold winter and spring so far, but otherwise nothing has gone wrong. Cookie Bear did look relieved when I opened the box and he could sit up again.

  9. Like that bear, the flower will look beautiful when out in full bloom. The twins are growing like mushroom as we say and look healthy. Love the last photo/water colour :)

    1. Margaret D; I found you in spam :) The flowers will be lovely, I don't remember if the buds open all at once or one at a time. Happily, the twins are very healthy. Strong health runs in my family :)

  10. Smiling bear, smiling babies and papa! I almost bought Salted Caramel today, but went with Mint Chip instead. Green is my favorite color, and I couldn't resist the mint and chocolate chips.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Val; I tried mint chip years ago and didn't like it. I will get some more of the salted caramel though, but not too much, just a small tub again. I mostly eat plain vanilla and not nearly as much as I used to.

  11. LOL he showed you the Popo first?!
Sami sure has a sense of humor!
    Lola really is so sweet!

Oh! You sure make me look for that ice cream now!

And, wow - please keep us updated on your planting!
My sunflowers die now and some though, still try to come through.
    Like Ukraine.

The babies sure are cute. Oh, wait till they can walk and talk!
They look like their happy Daddy!

    1. Iris; it was quite funny the way the Popo popped up right away when I opened the box :) Lola is much calmer now she isn't scratching all the time from allergies. I didn't plant my sunflowers yet, this morning was cold and rainy, but tomorrow is supposed to be warmer and sunny, so I will plant then. I have the pot ready filled with soil. The babies do look like their daddy, blue eyes, but have their mum's chin.
