Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by messymimi and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1. consider 2. second 3. sink  4. instinct 5. face 6. flash and/or:  my daughter always said she doesn't get mad she gets even.  Also including Charlotte's colour of the month: mouse grey Here is my story: My daughter always said she doesn’t get mad, she gets even , yet here she was, good and mad and banging dishes into the sink and slamming them into the drainer, with enough force for me to be thankful it was a load of metalwar

Lola has a problem.

She is well, as always, lives inside and eats only the foods I give her.  For just over seven years now.  Nothing has changed.  She drinks her water and uses her litter tray daily.  But yesterday, she yawned hugely right under my nose and I just about keeled over from the stink.  Her breath smelled like something died and today she still smells like she should be three days dead already.  A visit to the vet is out of the question, way too expensive. As long as she continues healthy, I'll just keep an eye on her.  Right now she is sleeping peacefully right beside the laptop and every now and again there is that whiff of something dead.

Sunday Selections

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally. I opened this new block of cheese recently to find all four edges looking like this, I was going to email the company about that but haven't yet and can't bring myself to eat the cheese either I stepped outside one morning recently to find it was foggy not a 'peasouper' but the end of the street couldn't be seen in either direction the leggy black aeoniums, and the green ones, were cut back last autumn, then I forgot to w

I may not post a Friday story this week.

I'll take note of the words, but my head is so fuzzy and dull from this cold I'm unable to concentrate on anything for more than about 15 minutes.  If there is a miraculously super-fast recovery, then maybe. But at the moment all I want to do is sleep.

Gack!

I have a cold.  I never get colds!  Can't claim that anymore 😢 It's a chesty cold with much coughing that began yesterday morning, so off I went this morning to the supermarket for some cough syrup labelled "mucus cough + cold.  10ml every four hours.  The label says it helps to clear mucus from the chest, well it certainly is doing that and helping with the runny nose too. We suspect I got it from the twins who already had mild symptoms when I spent several hours with them last Saturday. "no-one" was there too and she is also coughing now. The twins began coughing on Sunday and aren't getting much sleep in their misery.  I imagine their tiny throats are as sore as mine 😢😢

Jack had declared the weather to be clement , with just a weak wind , so they should be safe to row along the stretch of beach inside

This one is for Val and The Pony, she'll get the joke and won't mind, I hope this is my one and only glass paperweight, side view bottom view top view and a closer look so you can see the tiny stamens in the flower I bought a couple of new hoodies and put them through the wash to remove excess "fluffing" before wearing after they dried I took the filter from the clothes dryer look how much excess fluff came off them!! and t

I thought this was worth sharing...

In the Sunday Mail (Adelaide’s Sunday newspaper) By Melissa Leong “I wonder if we’re losing our capability for rational discussion” There’s no question that the world is in the toilet right now. And I mean right at the bottom of the bowl, you know? Sure, as long as there have been people on the planet, we’ve had or issues. But at present it certainly feels as though things have hit a fever pitch that only dogs and bats should be able to hear. As such, I don’t think anyone can be blamed for being a little (or a lot) up in arms, From the atrocities of war and political injustice to social inequality; tragedy and environmental disaster, there’s a lot to be angry, sad and confused about, that’s for sure. I don’t know about you, but every day feels a bit like a powder keg waiting to blow at any given moment. As our patience wears thin on the issues we care about, I’m noticing that a new kind of worrying trend is rising in tandem. For the sake of our conversation, I’m going to ca

I have to say I am NOT happy with blogger's new picture selection process which only allows me to select and upload one picture at time. Beginning with the July calendar picture a mural I have shown once before but forgot to add the date and the artist lemon chicken with rice on the menu tonight with a few of these really yummy biscuits (cookies) for dessert. Available in Coles supermarkets for $5.50, other flavours are available too. 1
