Saturday update
Thought you all might like to know, my eye surgery went well, and I was picked up from the clinic by my daughter-who-drives (the rest of us don't) and a nice surprise, my grand daughter was there too!
I spent the rest of the day at daughter's house and stayed overnight, had a bit of trouble seeing, the eye was blurry and my undoctored eye wanted my glasses, but I still couldn't see all that well, even trying all my glasses, even the sunglasses which have prescription lenses, but in the end I managed without, but was able to see the TV quite well. Daughter's screen is quite a bit larger than mine, so that helped.
Slept very well in their spare bedroom, but still had some trouble Friday morning focusing on anything printed, which didn't stop me from doing all the puzzles in the daily newspaper which grand daughter brought with her when she came to visit her her own baby son, who is now two. He isn't used to me yet as I don't see them often, we all live quite far apart.
Anyway, I am home now since yesterday lunchtime, coping quite well with the eyedrops four times a day, three separate bottles, two that sting and one that doesn't. I was reminded to leave a minute between each separate drop so that the second drop wouldn't wash out the liquid from the first drop and ditto for the third drop.
I have an eye patch the must be worn for sleeping for the first three nights and it is advised that I do not sleep on my left side for a week. Or maybe that's just the three nights with the eye patch? I'll do it for the week anyway.
I arrived home yesterday to find Lola quite a bit distressed, yowling at me and embarrassed by having pooped on the floor. She's had several cuddles by now and snuggled up to me in bed as usual, so all is well in her world again. Until next time.
Lady Lola, snoozing almost on the keyboard.
I am SO... SO sorry I missed you, Ingo is giving me a very hard time, as studying and family does.
ReplyDeleteThis is no excuse, eye-surgery is scary and important. I had "plaster"-lenses too big and blablabla.
So glad we both had help! And yes. Eyedrops all the time and I have to pay this - hope your "medical care" takes.. haha, care? Mine does not.
Poor Lola. And... nice to see you fool around with stickers on technical devices as I do (my admin wanted to "kill" me). Hope all is well soon!
Iris; don't be sorry, I know you are busy with the tests and trying to learn it all. What are "plaster" lenses? I never heard of those. My health insurance paid for the eye surgery and will pay for the next one too with only a small payment from me. I had to pay for the eyedrops though, about $35 and when they are finished I go back to regular daily drops, about $25 a month. some of the stickers I took off as the were catching the light too much, they are shiny.
DeletePoor Lola. I am glad that your daughter was able to pick you up and hope that you get better and better.
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; I was expecting Lola to be like that, she has anxiety issues, but over the years has improved a lot and it only took a good meal and a few cuddles to settle her again. Daughter will do the same for my next appointment on the 24th.
DeleteI'm pleased to read your eye is doing alright. Good news.
ReplyDeletePoor Lola, she missed you, R.
Margaret D; I'm pleased with thr eye too, and will feel even better after the other eye gets done. Lola is fine again, it's the longest I've left her since I adopted her, she probably thought I abandoned her. A few cuddles reassured her.
DeleteAyyyy Long John Silver. The eye patch is an excellent idea at night, but be wary of frightening small children. Or even adults.
ReplyDeletehels; the eye patch is only for sleeping, I don't wear it during the day, and it is only for three nights, so tonight is the last time.
DeleteGreat news, Pirate Pete. Have a good sleep with Lola, and I hope you feel good in the morning.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; ha ha Pirate Pete. The patch is clear plastic with perforations so it doesn't get sweaty under it. I'll probably feel great in the morning knowing I'm halfway through the eyedrops routine.
DeleteGood to hear from you again. I hope you xontinue to improve! Eyedrops that stings are bad, but the result from not using them would probably be worse. All the best.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte; I agree that not using them would be bad, so I persevere. The eye is feeling really good.
DeleteI have been thinking about you and wondering how the surgery went, so it was good to 'hear' from you.
ReplyDeletePoor Lola. She must have been so upset, but now she can relax again with you back at home.
jabblog; thank you. Lola was quite upset, but she calmed quickly which surprised me and I hope she will remember when I get the next eye done and not be so worried.
DeleteI am pleased to hear that this latest eye surgery went well Elsie. Maybe I am wrong but you always sound like a tough human being with an upbeat attitude to life. You wouldn't let a little thing like eye surgery bring you down.
ReplyDeleteYorkshire Pudding; thank you. I am an upbeat type, I was born happy and have stayed that way. But I do love to read, so eye surgery was a little worrying. I'm glad it went well and am no longer worried about getting the second eye done on the 24th.
DeleteI'm so glad to hear it went well! I pray you have excellent vision with no need for glasses after this.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; thank you. I will still need glasses to read with being cross-eyed. They could have fixed that, but it would be a higher cost, so I opted for what I could afford and don't mind still needing reading glasses.
DeleteGlad to hear the eye surgery went well! Not long before your other surgery and then - done! I'm glad Lola was able to be comforted. As you suggest, maybe she won't mind so much the second time.
