Sunday Selections # 734

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us more often.

Beginning with this month's calendar page:

and moving on to the redheads:

"Oh no! What will we tell the Captain?"

"He's going to want to know who didn't put the handbrake on"

"At least we were all out of the car when it rolled backwards. I'll get the truck."

"Riley, you got the wrong truck, this one doesn't have a winch."

Back to Victoria now with a bit more of R and V's holiday:

They took a look at the Eildon Dam

which was nicely blue with a good amount of water

On their almost last day R went to watch "his" team play football, he's been a Carlton fan forever and usually sees the matches on TV

He had a great time watching his team get hammered (they lost)

They also went to the Metung Hot Springs

The sign reads "Healing Community, Healing Country" plus a lot of other words in smaller print

Looks like  great place

time for a spot of breakfast

and maybe a quick dip

Jabblog's post today was about jigsaws and whether or not people still do them and do they frame them? This is a small corner of one of mine, done by my brother R

here's the middle of the lower edge

the bottom left hand corner

And the whole jigsaw, a scene in Amsterdam, nicely framed and hanging above my TV

and another jigsaw, put together by my niece, G.

this one has small sections in a greenish white that glow in the dark once the lights are turned off, though that doesn't last long.

It's Manhatten, also framed by my brother and hanging on a different wall, but still in the front room.

here are some dwarf french marigolds to finish with, I took this photo a couple of years ago I think and never got around to posting it. Taken with my phone, not my camera.

  1. The redheads have been busy!
It was good that your brother managed to see his team play, even if the result wasn't quite what he would have wished for.
The jigsaws are lovely, especially the first one.

    1. jabblog; the redheads are resting today, probably planning their next adventure. That first jigsaw is really nice and the dark frame goes well in that corner, with everything else also dark. It's the TV corner.

  2. I'm sure your brother enjoyed the experience of being at the game in person, even with the loss. The redheads do have some explaining to do! At least they are rescuing themselves. I have framed a jigsaw puzzle and put it in the wall. There's some kind of stuff you can spray on it, like a protective coating. It's been so long ago I can't remember.

    1. Val; R was very happy to be able to see a match in person for a change. I'd like to see your framed jigsaw. I've heard about the spray stuff, but I don't think there is any on mine, they are framed behind glass in old frames bought from a thrift shop.

  3. Love that the redheads were able to save themselves. Your brother's holiday looks excellent. I don't do jigsaws but himself does. We have not yet framed any of them though.

    1. Elephant's Child; the redheads always seem to get themselves out of harm's way, they're very clever. I'm a bit envious of R and V's holiday, hoping to do something similar myself one day.

  4. For me the jigsaw is in the joy of completing it - and then it goes to another to do. I went to Lake Eildon once - but unfortunately it was with a very unwise choice of travelling companion so that is all that I remember.

    1. jeanie; I like completing jigsaws, but then I just bag the pieces and put them back in the boxes. I have given away a few. Lake Eildon looks like a nice place to visit.

  5. Are you as keen a footie fan as R? Do you enjoy the games, even when Carlton loses?
My beloved left Sydney after he graduated in Dec 1970, but he wouldn't have known a real football if it fell in his hands. Thankfully he barracks for Melbourne now, and understands real AFL footie :)

    1. hels; I am not at all keen on footy or any other sports, I'd rather read a book or watch anything else. I probably don't have even one sporting cell in my whole body.

  6. A varied array of pics, that is for sure!

I'm still having problems with blogger, so until I am able to fix the problem, I won't post an article in my own blog.

Take good care, River...have a lovely, cool, week ahead...my cuddles to Lovely Lady Lola. :)

    1. Lee; I do like to mix things up so there is something to please everyone. Sorry you are having so much trouble with blogger.

  7. I never thought of Australia having hot springs.

    1. Dora; I didn't know either until a few years ago, it seems we have quite a few.

  8. Metung is such a beautiful place and I didn't know there were hot springs there.
    I like the Amsterdam jigsaw.

    1. Andrew; I'd never heard of Metung until R and V went there, but now I want to go myself. The Amsterdam jigsaw is great isn't it!

  9. Oh, no, an accident - glad no Redhead was injured.
Your "Aussie rules football" is a (boring?) mystery to me, LOL. Great for your Brother to watch for real, even if they lost.
Hmmm, Hot Springs! 2C, felt -1C here,
Around Darwin we were in some. Crazy, air-temp is 35+, yet the hot water was sooo good.
When I broke my foot I started with these jigsaws. Fun and no mess.

    1. Iris; redheads are never injured, I do make sure they stay away from the stove though. Football is boring to me too. I don't do jigsaws anymore, I don't have anywhere to set them up where the cat can't get them, I only have the one small table.

    2. I remember those online puzzles, I did a few way back years ago while I was still working and didn't follow so many blogs as I do now.

  11. Good to see the redheads, R.
Wow, those jigsaw puzzles look wonderful handing and in a frame. I sometimes do them on the mini ipad but not often.
Looks a good dam with plenty of water.

    1. Margaret D; thank you, the redheads are resting today, I wonder what they might be planning. I think quite a lot of jigsaws are worth framing and hanging. The dam does appear to have plenty of water.

  12. I like seeing the redheads again. Good that no-one was hurt. I never frame my jigsaws, but scramle them and put them back into the box for a re-solve later on.

    1. Charlotte; the redheads are never hurt, we are all very careful. I only have these two jigsaws framed, the rest are back in their boxes waiting for another day.

  13. It looks like those guys are playing soccer, not football! 🤣

    1. Mike; it's definitely football, with the Australian oval shaped ball. R doesn't follow soccer.

    2. MIke; I just had another look at that picture, it looks like the warm up stretches before the game begins or maybe at half time.
