Sunday Selections #735

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us more often.

Beginning today with Lola's latest visit to the vet for her twice yearly "manicure"

The male nurse was wearing DINOSAUR scrubs! I loved them and he allowed me to take a photo.

the repainted fire truck is now back on the front porch with fake plants in it, so no watering is needed.

This is the Tennyson Day Centre where I had my cataract surgery and will be back there for the second eye in 12 days.

it's quite a large place

A few shots of the puffy clouds we have had lately

typical autumn in Australia

plenty of sunshine, but cooler winds

how deep is that blue! I love my country.

a bit of colour in the clouds a half hour later, but no rain came.

a birdhouse in a garden

a brilliant golden ash backs a tall cottonwood stump

figs are growing again, I walked past this tree and had to go back and breathe more of that delicious sweet smell.

one blue hydrangea remains amongst its dying siblings

and a pink hydrangea does the same a little way along the path

a dying pink hydrangea.

how beautiful is this purple? Perfect, right? I don't know what it is.

finishing with some pretty lacy leaves on what I thought was a hazelnut tree, but I could be wrong.

  1. The scrubs are such fun. Was Lola a good girl?
The fire truck looks splendid now. Artificial plants are a good idea when watering is difficult.

    1. jabblog; Lola is always a good girl at the vet. I think those scrubs would be excellent as pyjamas. I wish I'd thought of fake plants years ago for the fire truck, it's so badly rusted.

  2. I've never seen scrubs like that. Very cute! As is your fire engine. The sky is indeed a lovely deep blue. Ours today is without clouds, but more of a robin's egg hue.

    1. Val; our vets here often wear fancy scrubs, one of the female nurses has scrubs with cartoon dogs and cats all over. I don't often see Robin's egg blue here, though I do see paler blues sometimes.

  3. Some delightful walks. Thank you - and I am very glad to see you posting today. I wondered whether you would be up to it.

    1. Elephant's Child; I wondered myself, but the eye is seeing so well, I went ahead with the scheduling last night after dinner.

  4. those scrubs!! Great photos.... reminded me of the big blue hydrangea i used to have outside my door.... every year when the blooms had dried, i had great fun setting fire to them and creating the burning bush....... the plant didn't seem to be at all phased by it and flowered profusely every single year..... i've never had another one like it.

    1. ArcticFox; a burning bush! Did people come and pray beside it? We couldn't do that here, most of my country is under Fire Danger alerts all year.

  5. It's a great collection of photos this week. I can't see the scrubs catching on in public hospitals but they would be very good at hiding stains.
That's an interesting comment by ArcticFox about burning hydrangea blooms.

    1. Andrew; I think scrubs with patterns and other designs are worn in children's wards. I'd like to get some to wear as pyjamas. The burning hydrangea bush is an interesting idea, but the fire danger is too great.

  6. I'm so glad your surgery went well.

It's amazing the different scrubs you can get now. They used to all be the same.

Thank you for sharing all these lovely pictures.

    1. messymimi; I'm glad it went well too, I was so nervous right before they put me to sleep, but I am not at all worried about getting the second eye done on the 24th.
The pictures are from the hills area close by where they have much more autumn colour than we get down in the city, the "Hillbillies" call us "Flatlanders".

  7. Good photos and nice to see. The sky is always a blessing and even better still we can see it.
Take care R, and hope the eye is coming along as expected.

    1. Margaret D; thank you, I like being able to see so much sky nearly all the time. The eye is doing well.

  8. Fresh figs, fully ready to eat, are the most delicious fruit. I wonder why we have never tried to grow fig trees in our back yard, even though the weather suits well.

    1. hels; I tried to grow a fig here but the birds and critters ate it. I remember one in a previous home I rented and a neighbour had one when I was a child, it hung over the fence and I would climb up and eat figs when they were purple.

  9. Love your dino-guy, and the skies. Very (too) slow(ly) Spring is arriving. Mid-April and 12C. No twins hopefully means you were too busy?

    1. Iris; our autumn is arriving slowly too, this week we are back over 30C everyday. No twins means the mum is too busy to take photos, and I don't go until my eye surgeries are completely finished, in case I catch something from any of the kids (colds/flu/) because then the second eye surgery would have to be postponed

    2. 30C. Give us some temps? Wearing Ingo´s winter-jumper right now.

    3. No, we just text message on our phones. That house is very busy, 8 people live there.

  10. I love the dinosaur scrubs! I'd wear them as pajamas. I wonder if I could buy some on Amazon? I should look!

Your purple flower toward the bottom is a hollyhock.

    1. (Or some type of mallow, the family to which hollyhocks belong.)

    2. Steve Reed; I would love those as pyjamas and have been planning to look at Amazon, but often the clothing sizings aren't accurate enough for a short fat woman. The flower does look like a hollyhock, but maybe another form of mallow, since I don't recall ever seeing a hollyhock so shiny and purple.
