Sunday Selections # 747
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
"no-one" sent me this on a recent afternoon:
So I went outside to see for myself:
someone has been in my garden playing with Roscoe the dog, I can tell because his ears are sticking out (the cat is Rosie)
this is a honeysuckle which wasn't doing well, so I cut it off at the base, intending to dig out the roots and throw it away, but I forgot and here it is looking better. We'll see how it does this coming spring. Hopefully it will climb up the windmill frame.
I also have mushrooms growing through the mulch, I believe this indicates an improvement in the soil,
there are two clumps but I don't know what type they are and they may not be safe, so I won't be eating them.
I love ❤️ this series of photos.
ReplyDeleteLinda's Relaxing Lair; thank you.
DeleteSo do I!
ReplyDeleteI like Roscoe and Rosie. I hope Roscoe's ears are left alone now.
jabblog; Roscoe and Rosie are quite old now, their feet have rusted away and only the mulch is holding them upright.
DeleteI love that coffee picture, I can relate! I hope your honeysuckle thrives!

Wisewebwoman; I don't have a coffee machine, but if I did it might just be my best friend.
DeleteRoscoe certainly looks startled that somebody dared to take liberties with his ears! I like your foil frost. I love honeysuckle, driving through the country in the evening, getting a whiff of it, seeing it overgrown on fences. Your little sprig has a long way to go, but I hope it catches on and thrives.
ReplyDeleteVal; Roscoe doesn't mind if little children play with his ears. I love honeysuckle too and wish I'd kept the "giant" variety I had in a pot in my previous home, the flowers on that were five inches long. This one has teeny tiny flowers barely an inch and only ever had two. Maybe it will do better this year. The foil frost was more "starburst" but melted quickly.
DeleteDoes honeysuckle have a use? Or is it just decorative?
ReplyDeletehels; just decorative, but if it doesn't thrive and flower I will look for the "giant" variety I had in a previous home. I gave it away to a community garden just before I moved because the garden here was all thick millet grass heavy with spiky seeds.
DeleteThe frost pattern is rather pretty and that is not a good job on the repair.
ReplyDeleteRoscoe and Rosie are wonderful, I'd be tempted to play with them also.
messymimi; thank you, the frost melted too quickly so the starburst I saw wasn't there by the time I had the phone out. Roscoe and Rosie are only half what they used to be, their feet have rusted away. I don't mind small children playing with them as long as they leave them here.
DeleteAnd here we are again with the he and she for Sun and Moon. I came across this first at "Le Petit Prince" and thought, huh? Asked my French teacher (that was long before internet)... then in English as well. It´s also "la voiture", female for car... I think I´m very old-fashioned... expecting the male being the protective one. I should wake up! Was it another dog playing with Roscoe maybe? In that case, bet he had a fun time and you should smile?
ReplyDeleteSad my stomach does not like coffee anymore... love the calendar-page, so 70´s-like :-)
P.S. blogger threw up again. The dino-post sure was to come with pics- I took it off for "soon" to come properly and check what caused this.. probably me, even, gah!
Iris; I have always known the sun as he and the moon as she, also cars and ships are always she, for some reason unknown to me. Most other things are neutral, which is a relief. I know that in French almost everything is either le (male) or la (female) and I was so irritated by it all when the teacher tried to teach us in high school. To me a table is a table, there is no male or female about it.
DeleteI don't think another dog would pull Roscoes ears up they are quite stiff and there aren't dogs around here, within the grounds at least, plenty walking on the footpaths on leads.
Too bad about coffee and your stomach, but there are plenty of other things to drink. So many different types of tea too.
Yes, French... luckily at ALSTOM I was not allowed to admit I speak French. If a French guy learns that you do, gone is English, but my French is... not fresh anymore.
DeleteYes, wonder why we have sun, moon, car different.
Most dogs are on leads, too here, but have a loooot of freedom, so I always walk in the street. Yes, luckily enough alternatives to coffee.
Interesting selections R. Mushrooms, hmmm!
ReplyDeleteThat concrete isn't the best at the pipe, but it will no doubt hold well.
Margaret D; I don't know what type of mushrooms these are so I won't eat them, just in case. I don't think that concrete will hold well, it gets driven over by mobility scooters and by the postman every day. Also some delivery trucks get their wheels up onto the footpath as well.
DeleteI love seeing the moon in a clear blue sky.
ReplyDelete:o)
Cheers

Plasman; I do too.
DeleteWe also have a honeysuckle that isn't doing too great. Maybe I need to try your technique!
ReplyDeleteSteve Reed; wait until it's dormant season and give it a try.
DeleteGreat moon shot.
ReplyDeleteDora; thank you.
DeleteGreat moon shots - likie me you seem to have better luch with daytime shots.
DeleteThat concrete repair looks suspicious, and I think they'll have to re-repair soon.
The mushrooms looks fine, but I do not know the first thing about your mushrooms, so I'd never eat them.
Charlotte; daytime shots are rare, I'm usually too busy, and this time of year we often have cloud cover.
DeleteThat concrete was done "on the cheap" as is most housing repairwork and it won't get redone unless someone complains.
I only eat mushrooms I buy at the shops.
I love that frost pattern!
