this little girl had a birthday yesterday
and is now 84 cat years old, 17 in people years
Lola.
I thought of buying her (me) a cake to celebrate, but I really don't need the extra calories.
I gave her half a can of tuna instead and the other half got mashed with mayonnaise and spread on my sandwich.
She is soooo cute. Happy 84 ! Love that you shared a tin of tuna! What a hoot.
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Whisk; I always make sure to get the springwater tuna so she doesn't get any salt, since salt is not good for cats, they get kidney disease too easily.
DeleteHappy birthday 🎂 🥳 sweet Lola. She is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLinda's Relaxing Lair; she is beautiful and the vet always says "I can't believe she's this old".
DeleteSuch a pose! I don't think she missed the cake.
ReplyDeleteVal; she was stretching while changing position to continue her napping. I don't think she even knows what cake is.
DeleteHappy birthday!!
ReplyDeleteYou celebrated her birthday in the best way!!
I liked that you shared the tune.... that means a lot!!
Katerina's Blog; Thank you. I always share my tuna with her, she loves it.
DeleteOh, Happy Birthday Lola. Isn't she sweet.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D; she is sweet, though it took us several years to get used to each other after I got her from the Animal Welfare, she was quite ill at the time and we battled through three years of different foods and treatments. Now she only sees the vet for her "manicure" three times a year. (claw trimming)
Delete17 years sound a long healthy lifetime to me, but perhaps I am thinking of dogs. How long do cats live on average?
ReplyDeleteHels; a lot depends on whether the cat lives indoors or outdoors, Outdoor cats tend to have fights and other accidents and die earlier. Indoor cats, with proper diet can live twenty years or more. My daughter's cat lived to almost 21 people years, even though being an outdoor cat who only came inside to eat and sleep, and a neighbour here recently said goodbye to her oldest cat who was 23.
DeleteHappy birthday, Lola. Tuna is a special treat, lucky you.
ReplyDeletejabblog, thank you. Tuna is a treat she gets reasonably often, every time I have a tuna sandwich, she gets some of the tuna before I mix in the mayonnaise. I buy the salt free kind.
DeleteTabby cats were always my favourite, happy birthday Lola.
ReplyDeleteChris;welcome to drifting. I have always had tabby cats, a couple were ginger, but mostly the regular colouring.
DeleteHappy birthday Lola, I the servant of cat Rosie have my birthday today ! Rosie is 19, I think that makes about 100 in cat years. She didn't want anything, for food she is a strange cat, she never eats anything else than the cat food ! no meat, no tuna, no chicken, she sniffs at it and then disgusted walks away !
ReplyDeleteIngrid; 19 is 92 in cat years, so your Rosie must be very well cared for. Lola doesn't eat any people food except the bits of tuna I give here and sometimes a bit of hardboiled egg yolk, about a half teaspoon. With wet cat food, she doesn't like anything with chicken, but she will eat dry kibble with chicken and other flavours. Happy birthday to You!
DeleteMy 91 year old cat Olive and I wish Lola a happy, happy tuna filled birthday.
ReplyDeleteGranny Annie; cats age four years at a time after their second birthday, so your Olive is most likely 92. Lola didn't get a lot of tuna, about a tablespoonful, I only buy the small single serve cans.
DeleteShe´s very cute and looks happy. And a shared can of tuna is the best! Happy belated Birthday!
ReplyDeleteIris; thank you, she is cute and mostly happy, she certainly lets me know when her water dish is empty.
Deleteshe's adorable - i hope she thanked you for the tuna and subsequently made you thank her, repeatedly, for letting you worship her for the last 17 years!!
ReplyDeleteArcticFox; thank you, she's most adorable when she is sleeping and she does that a lot, which is fine with me. I wish I could sleep as much, especially through the winter. I have only had Lola for nine years, I got a skinny frightened cat from the animal welfare and spent a couple of years working out which foods didn't upset her, then she put on some weight and her coat began to shine.
DeleteShe looks amazing for such an old lady, River. Happy birthday Lola.🐱

Wisewebwoman; thank you. I believe I have done the right thing with her, good quality food and always washing out her dishes every day.
DeleteShe has beautiful markings. Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge her special day.
ReplyDeleteKathy G; thank you, she does have lovely markings and her coat is so shiny. I am wondering if she will make it to her next birthday. She is healthy, but that is still another whole year to get through.
DeleteHappy birthday to Lola! Seventeen is a ripe old age.
ReplyDeleteSteve Reed; thank you. 17 is a good age and if she keeps well we will have another 3 or 4 years.
DeleteHappy Birthday, Lola and I'm sure the tuna was the better choice.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; thank you, tuna is definitely a better choice, she probably wouldn't eat cake anyway.Sometimes she looks at what I am eating and I might say "you can't have this it will make you sick" and she turns away. Other times I will offer a tiny taste and mostly she refuses it, I think she knows what is best for her.
DeleteTuna is the perfect birthday celebration for cat and human. Happy 84th to her.
ReplyDeleteBoud; thank you, tuna is a good choice for so many days.
DeleteHappy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteDora; Lola meows thank you.
