Sunday Selections # 755

Image
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally. Beginning today with a short video, hope it plays: Last Friday was storm day here in Adelaide, we even had hail! though it didn't last much longer than it took to take this photo walking to the shop Saturday I expected to see more damage than just a few small branches on roads and footpaths this tiny toy shoe, only an inch long is still there, I expected it would get blown away with the wild winds we had. I rode one of the newer ...

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by messymimi and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1.horizon  2.consciousness  3.theorist  4.great  5.enhance  6.enter  and/or this sentence:  "It took him a while to realise that everything he decided not to change, he was actually choosing" Also including Charlotte's colour of the month straw yellow. Here is my story: Repercussions from the removal of several hundred computers from their owners were felt around the world almost immediately. One ...

Brother R came to visit and brought me some old paperwork belonging to my dad, who has been dead for 25 and a half years now.  They'd been stored in a container with moth balls and were quite stinky so I pegged them out on the clothes rack in the back porch three days later, most are now inside, but the heavier items such as dad's passports are still smelly so they are still out there. I now have the original copy of his natu...

Situated high on a bluff, overlooking acres of untouched meadows, it was the elite choice for the brightest students whose futures...

Further to yesterday's Sunday Selections

Image
the Mickey Mouse plant is called Ochna Serrulata and here is the information I gathered via Google: being indigenous to South Africa it probably isn't a plant that would do well in the northern hemisphere areas such as Europe or the UK unless in a sheltered warm area, such as an airy greenhouse.

Beginning today with something my phone app tells me is a "Mickey Mouse" plant/flower: Looks more like a Jester to me here's one with a berry already ripened to black, I guess the colours are Mickey Mouseish bright green leaves of a newly grown violet patch but this one has white violets instead of the purple usually seen in these gardens my aeonium stem began flowering and was then knocked off the plant by a careless someone o...
