Wednesday's Words on a Friday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.

This month the words/prompts are supplied by Wisewebwoman and can be found here

Charlotte's colour of the month is "Thrash pink"

This week's words/prompts are:

1.daffodils  2.bluebirds  3.trench  4. dentist

and/or:

1.creek  2.window  3.ballroom  4.mask

use either list or both, or mix and match, just have fun.

Here is my story with only half the words used:

After discussing a trip to the cave, William asked Jim if he would like to accompany him to town the next day. “I could use some help navigating roads and traffic,” said William. ‘I would like that,” said Jim, “though there isn’t a lot of traffic, not like in the big cities.”

Plans were made for Jim’s mum Maggie to drive them to the village and leave them while she continued to the city and she would pick them up on her way home later. William had heard about a place where elderly people could live and be cared for, it was more a retirement complex, not an institution, and he wanted to check it out.

“I’ve heard the carers wear smocks with bluebirds on them, that would be nicer than nurses uniforms if I had to see them every day.” “I know that place,” said Nanna Ruby. “My friend Sue lives there and helps take care of the gardens, every year she plants dozens of daffodils in all colours in all the small gardens so people who can’t get outside can sit by their window and see them. Some of the gardens are very crowded by now, so she has asked for a few new plots to be dug.”

“And there is a creek in the grounds, I wouldn’t mind a room where I could hear the water,” said William.

  1. Seeing the garden is a lovely thing and I like the idea of hearing the water too.

    Happy Christmas!
