Sunday Selections # 780
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
Walking home from the city (5 miles) one day when I had just missed the bus, I noticed many intersections were blocked off due to road works
these giant concrete blocks are hollow and will become the new storm water drainage along Glen Osmond Road
Heavy machinery was everywhere
this is a section of the old storm water drain lined with slabs of concrete
and another section lined with stacked horizontal slabs, not very stable and quite inefficient
I am surprised it has lasted this long but with much more traffic and heavier vehicles, it badly needs the upgrading
at the edge of the intersection of Glen Osmond and Greenhill Roads, these are the stormwater outlets that run diagonally under the roads, each is only about 1/4 or 1/3 the size of the big new square drain sections that are being laid.
here is some of the machinery in action, I hope it plays
closer to home I saw this window display in an upmarket secondhand shop, I wonder if the brass (bronze?) hare is grumpy because the cabbage behind him is ceramic so he can't eat it.
in the next window was this pretty ceramic flower
and these model houses. I used to collect things like this, but a smaller version and gave them away when I was moving here because I knew there would be no room to display them.
a little further along was this pretty cafe table, I like these much better than plain ones.
very close to home now, a new vibrant younger bloom next to an older faded one
and a sunburned deep red one.
home now and making coffee
I notice my old mug is cracked and stained with grey circles from the spoon as I stir in the sugar and milk
I may have to retire it and choose one of these instead
here is my new kindle next to the bigger, heavier old one
and once I had registered the new one, my entire kindle library of books loaded itself. I was worried about how long it might take to transfer them from the old one, no need for that at all.
this is my shadow getting in the way
when I wanted to photograph this shadow the next day
and here we see my favourite jelly bean, black ans aniseed flavoured
Oh no! they're trying to escape!
Get in the bowl!

Sorry you missed the bus though a good walk and some neat photo finds. Love that part. Do you like the lighter smaller ereader better? Glad it uploaded everything. The cafe table looked neat.
