Sunday Selections #791
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
Charlotte's colour of the month for May is Gold:
The colour of sunshine, daffodils, little yellow dandelions before they become puffballs, baby chicken and ducklings too are golden.the pan is prepared,
the ingredients are measured and ready, look at those gloriously golden egg yolks, and the golden butter, let's mix and bake
just out of the oven, a golden lemon ricotta cake
time to take off the paper,
and see it fall apart. Sigh. It was delicious anyway and the ladies who gathered for a neighbour's 90th birthday all loved it.
the skies were very blue and the clouds fluffy and soft
moving quickly in the high-as-the-sky breezes
blowing apart and reforming as we sat and ate and chatted. I met new people and old friends were there too, but a crowd of eleven who all brought food was a bit much for the tiny card table provided, we stacked things and kept watch in case the legs collapsed, but all was well.
walking around the block later I saw chrysanthemums blooming in white
and gold, just in time for Australian Mother's Day which is today, Sunday, May 10th.
I think I have shown this pretty gate before, but it is worth a second look in my opinion.
a new cockatoo with a golden crest, sitting in a garden nearby, a metal ornament that won't fly away.
Hibiscus are blooming, in pinks
and reds
of course, autumn leaves are everywhere now, in browns,
reds,
and gold.

Everything here is green, green, green.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter what the cake looks like as long as it is delicious!
Alex J. Cavanaugh; cake is always delicious. We still have a lot of green here too, none of the native plants are deciduous so they keep their colour all year.
DeleteThe cold has snapped a little here too. Aren't hibiscus just so frilly and gorgeous?
ReplyDeletejeanie; I thought I would welcome some cold after the summer heat, but it got too cold to quickly, for me anyway. I will adjust and be used to it in a week or two. Hibiscus are beautiful.
DeleteA ricotta cake sounds even good to me!
ReplyDeleteAll cloudy here, Spring is... ack!
Sounds like "loads" of fun and yes, Sunday here is Mother´s Day, too. Well, Ingo´s Mother lives over 300 km away...
To a golden Sunday.
Iris; the cake is very lemony, but it also has 150 grams of sugar, though it doesn't taste "sugary" with all the lemon juice in it. Happy Mother's Day to Ingo's mum 😀
DeleteOh, "Under Pressure"! Ingo´s Mum doesn´t use FB anymore and the two of them don´t get too well along. Well. I´ll wish her a happy one anyways, good idea, thank you! And... if in a good mood (atm Ingo does bank-issues) I´ll remind him.
DeleteAlso... he wanted to check out a new restaurant with me tonight - reckon not a good idea!
Lovely selection there of the yellows and gold. That cake sounds delish. And those flowers and autumn. Here it's spring, so I give my head a shake.

Wisewebwoman; thank you, I was wondering about using the gold colour of the month, thinking I don't have things in that colour, but the photos chosen fitted nicely. The cake is soooo yummy.
DeleteYour cake looks good, we all used to take a plate to people's houses for a gathering like the one you had for the 90th lady's birthday, I've noticed it's done so much these days.
ReplyDeleteOur autumn leaves are only a few yet.
Love Hibiscus flowers and we have the Rose of Sharon, ones like yours are a different variety.
Margaret D; thank you. We always take a plate for this woman, we don't expect her to provide for a crowd at 90 years old and this way she gets quite a variety. I like hibiscus and there are several varieties.
DeleteQue pena o bolo de ricota desmoronou. Mas deve ter ficado bom do mesmo modo! Feliz dia das Mães, aqui no Brasil também é! beijos e flores! chica
ReplyDeletechica; I should have let it rest a bit longer before taking off the paper, but nobody minded and it was delicious. Thank you.
DeleteWhat a lovely idea for bringing people together through photography 📸✨ Sunday Selections sounds like such a warm and welcoming space where memories, creativity, and everyday moments could all be shared without pressure or rules. I really love the idea of celebrating all kinds of photos — not just the perfect ones, but the meaningful and fun ones too. It’s wonderful that Kim created something that encouraged connection and storytelling through images!

Una col·lecció de fotos que m'han obert la gana. ;-)
ReplyDeleteTotes en conjunt són molt maques i el color daurat és present.
Aferradetes!
You found some lovely golden things, but the egg yolks are the richest. I'm glad the cake was tasty and you enjoyed your get-together.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, dear friend! Thank you so much for sharing. Sending you a warm hug. It is a bit chilly here in Montreal, but honestly I don't mind, because when the high heat and extreme humidity and wildfires come, today is like a breath of fresh air...literally. I hope you have a wonder filled week ahead!
ReplyDeleteLove the cockatoo garden ornament! And your lemon ricotta cake looks delicious! I'd definitely have a piece!
