Sunday Selections #?

Welcome back to Sunday Selections.

Begun way back in the mist of time by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock and now continued by me, with a drastic relaxation of rules.

Originally meant for showcasing old photos lost on your files, never seeing the light of day, the meme has morphed into photos of your choice, new or old, good or not-so-good, anything you please, but nothing rude please.

If you are participating, please leave me a comment so I can buzz along and have a look.
Elephant's Child is taking a blog break this month and will be back when she is ready.

today you get to see the lovely Lady Lola, aka Miss Fancypants, aka "get off the table!"

here she is looking up at

Miss Mousie on the top corner of the scratching tower

she stared for the longest time, I thought she was never going to make a move

but she did finally jump up

and knock Miss Mousie to the floor before turning her attention to a small yellow ball which she also knocked off and it rolled under the couch, so she lost interest.

checking out the "cave" in case any more toys make an appearance

still keeping an eye on the "cave"

while she wasn't looking, I put Miss Mousie back up, but Lola wasn't interested anymore and took herself to my bed to sleep.

  1. Cats...who knows what they are thinking?

  2. Lola must think she's in cat heaven, with toys and that deluxe scratching tower, AND your bed to sleep in! Not that she'd show it, of course.

    1. Val; I'm sure she thinks she owns the place and just allows me to share it. I wouldn't mind so much if my bed was just a bit bigger, but I only have room for a single. Of course Lola is a bit smaller than Angel was, so I have room for my feet now.

  3. My cat plays in the middle of the night, and stomps like an overweight elephant.

    1. Joanne; Lola does too, so I take away the toys that make noise about 9pm, and right now her claws are a bit long so instead of stomping, she's clicking. Time for a manicure soon.

    1. Grace; she is, I know and so does she I'm sure.

  5. Easily entertained...but then we're watching her be easily entertained.

    1. joeh; I caught her on a playful day. There's many times when all she does is sleep the day away.

  6. That is so cute. I'm impressed she is using the tower. My cats never got off the bottom of the stand.

    1. Arkansas Patti; she climbs to the top of the bigger tower on the back porch too, but not often, she prefers the middle level on that one, which is good, because if my Angel ever comes home, that top spot is his, no question. He claimed it as a tiny kitten.

  7. I love the way my two stare at something that wasn't "there" before...something that has been moved from one place to another; or something new. They know...they don't miss a bloody trick! :)

Have a great week, River and cuddles to Lady Lola from me. :)

    1. Lee; I know what you mean. Yesterday I hung a very small bag that I use for keys when I don't have pockets, on the front door handle. Lola refused to go anywhere near it. She'd look, then back away and come to tell me something was wrong. Angel refused to eat in the kitchen if I ever forgot to close a cabinet door in the middle of the night after getting his clean bowl.

  8. What do you call that thing? A cat tree? It looks like it would be great fun Lola, or any cat. Ok, reread. A scratching tree. I can imagine two cats playing on the tower.

    1. Andrew; it's called a cat gym. I think two cats would only play together if they'd been raised together. I foresee problems if Angel ever comes home. He prefers the top level of anything, so Lola would be confined to the middle.

  9. As Lee said, cats notice anything out of place!

    And then ignore it :)

I still find it amazing that your cat and ours look so much alike, except Lola is more svelte! Our girl doesn't get enough exercise.

    1. jenny_o; Lola ignores things out of place if I don't fix it right away, but it takes her a while. Angel used to refuse to go anywhere where something was different and I would have to fix it right away.
Lola doesn't get a lot of exercise, just an occasional playful day or night, but with her IBS she has a limited diet, so doesn't eat much. She is healthier now than when I brought her home and has put on weight.

  10. Hi River,

It's a good thing that Penny the dog didn't see this pawst, oops, post. She'd be licking the computer screen.

    Cute photos of Lady Lola!

    Gary 😉

    1. Gary, nice to see you here. Maybe Penny wouldn't mind seeing Lola, so keep your screen cleaner handy.

    1. Margaret-whiteangel; Lola has seen Mousie before, but only on the floor, I put her up high to see if Lola would play.

    1. peppylady; thank you, I chose it online and it came flat in a box, I had to put it together with help from a neighbour. I has 5 scratching posts, 5 resting places and one cave, plus steps to climb up when Lola can no longer jump.

  14. What a pretty cat she is. Aren't they contrary, though?

    1. jabblog; very contrary. Some days I can lay my arm across her as we sleep, other days I'll get scratched and bitten for the same thing.

  15. We had several cats named “get off the table,” but we decided we can’t beat them so we feed them on that table and we eat on another.

Lola will play when she wants to play, like all cats. She’s beautiful.

    My selections are Grandma’s frogs.

    1. messymimi; that's a good solution, unfortunately I have only the one table. I'll pop over and see your Grandma's Frogs.
