Margaret D; thank you. These koalas have been at the park for quite some time and are used to being handled. They're tame enough, but still need to be careful. Even koalas have cranky days.
Iris Flavia; it was wonderful, and the rest of the park was equally wonderful. I fed some kangaroos, or maybe they were wallabies, while my friend J fed some camels.
Sandi; they do have very large claws, kit's how they climb trees, but these koalas have become used to being handled. There are only a few than can be held, and each is well fed before the handling hour, then only one hour is allotted for handling, about 12-15 people for a few minutes each, just long enough to get a photo. The new hair is a frizzy mess, tied back into a pony tail.
Lee; thank you. Iris hadn't seen these before, she is reasonably new to the blog. The koala was heavy and we were instructed on how to hold him so that he didn't have to grip with his claws. Lola is sound asleep on the bed, curled so tightly I can't tell one end from the other.
Wow - I LOVE this picture! You look very young for the age you keep telling us you are, even if it's from six years ago. And that koala is pretty adorable :)
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections. A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please. Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally. Beginning today with a few photos of my TV screen, on the news: In the far north, the APY Lands (I think, it was a while ago) the indigenous people held their own Grand Final football match: in the heat and the red dust much fun was had spectators as well as players it was lovely to see, quite a change from the city matches with over-crowded stands and all the cheering and booing that goes on. on another TV show: she really killed...

Brother R came to visit and brought me some old paperwork belonging to my dad, who has been dead for 25 and a half years now. They'd been stored in a container with moth balls and were quite stinky so I pegged them out on the clothes rack in the back porch three days later, most are now inside, but the heavier items such as dad's passports are still smelly so they are still out there. I now have the original copy of his natu...
That is a truly lovely photo - you certainly have your hands and arms full with the koala. Was it heavy?
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; thank you. He was heavy, but potential holders are warned beforehand about that.
DeleteBeautiful photo - you do look lovely and the koala is a friendly one.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D; thank you. These koalas have been at the park for quite some time and are used to being handled. They're tame enough, but still need to be careful. Even koalas have cranky days.
DeleteAwwww, thank you, so cute, both of you! It must´ve been wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIris Flavia; it was wonderful, and the rest of the park was equally wonderful. I fed some kangaroos, or maybe they were wallabies, while my friend J fed some camels.
DeleteWhat a sweet little bundle that koala is.....heavy?????????
ReplyDeleteonly slightly confused; yes, quite heavy and very sturdy, well muscled, not soft.
DeleteOooooh, a real koala! Sigh. I want to travel! NOW!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte; better to wait until the world is virus free, then come on down.
DeleteOH, wow! He seems so gentle with you. I had assumed they had claws. Well, he probably does, but seems very docile.
ReplyDeleteI want to see the new hair! You have a lovely smile.

This is so adorable. And not just the koala!

WWW
WWW; thank you :)
DeleteWhat a cute picture of you both. Thanks for putting a pretty face to the name.
ReplyDeleteArkansas Patti; thank you :)
DeleteThese are beautiful photos, River...I'm glad Iris asked to see them again. :)
ReplyDeleteThat koala was big fellow...a lovely big fellow. I bet he was a bit heavy!
I hope the week ahead treats you kindly...take care. Cuddles to Lovely Lady Lola. :)

DeleteWhat nice photos. I've never held a koala. Are they heavy?
ReplyDeleteAndrew; thank you, yes they are heavy, although I suppose the babies aren't.
DeleteJust like a baby. Almost.
ReplyDeleteJoanne; a big placid baby, toddler weight :)
DeleteThose are great pictures. That koala is a flattering short-term accessory for you!
ReplyDeleteVal; not the sort of accessory I'd want on a daily basis :)
DeleteWow - I LOVE this picture! You look very young for the age you keep telling us you are, even if it's from six years ago. And that koala is pretty adorable :)
ReplyDeletejenny_o; thank you; the young-for-age is a genetic thing, runs in the family. My mum didn't look her age until the cancer really took hold.
DeleteWhile i've gotten to hold a joey, and visit with lemurs, anteaters and sloths, i've never had the pleasure of meeting a koala. Wonderful photo!
ReplyDeleteHi River,
ReplyDeleteI have a picture with a Koala too when I was in your wonderful country way back in 2005.
:o)
Cheers
