Wednesday's Words on a Friday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.

This month the words/prompts are supplied by Alex J Cavanaugh and can be found here

This week's words/prompts are:

1. war

2. alien

3. tomorrow

4. metal

5. dragon

and/or:

1. suspects

2. quest

3. fury

4. winter

5. darkness

Here is my story:

As the winter darkness settled over my small hut, I checked the perimeter one more time. in this war against the Aliens I wasn't taking any chances.

I'd made sure my hut was strongly constructed, slabs of concrete, bolted together, with a Dragon Gargoyle above the door for protection. I stepped inside the steel door and went to the back wall to check my supplies.

Sugar, coffee, rice, flour and other staples, all stored in metal canisters with tightly fitted lids. A trapdoor nearby covered the entrance to a cellar where I had a large chest freezer filled with fruits and vegetables, all dried then frozen and packaged in meal sized serves.
I noticed the water containers were only half filled and promised myself I would venture to the spring fed stream tomorrow to fill them.

I would first taste the water though, to be sure it wasn't contaminated. My fury had known no bounds when I discovered last week the water had been salted. I had a few suspects in mind and my quest to hunt them down was only just beginning. More plans needed to be made if I was to avoid Alien contact while hunting down those non-believers who wished me harm.

    1. Arkansas Patti; the water isn't the only problem I expect. Stored dry supplies won't last forever.

  9. Scary and maybe natural as we avoid people these days.
As people try to harm us - more than once I was fake-coughed at, what "fun"...

  10. Supplies won't last forever, what you need is a way to grow more food. Anyway, good luck finding the culprits and not letting the aliens see it.
