Sunday Selections #603

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to them and have a look.

Let's start with a funny:

Games in Heaven

ripples in the birdbath from the rain

we even had puddles, it just rained and rained and rained.

the crows are back for the freeze-dried mealworms, sometimes the magpies too

this one collected a beak-full and dropped them in the water and had a drink before fishing them out again. I'm wondering if they are feeding babies now.

Jordan, Riley and Meg are deep in conversations with my Day of the Dead people, asking that Queen Elizabeth's soul is going to be happy and properly cared for.

Gillian would like to use the Tardis to go back in time and visit the Queen.

more and more flowers

opening each day

on this one Caribbean Lily

while the rest are just green leaves. I'm hoping they are gathering strength and will flower next year.

I'm tired of the old brown windmill and plan on painting it in a rainbow of colours

this is my birthday T-shirt, we like cheese in my family. (Remember the song by the Eurythmics? Sweet Dreams are Made of These? Sing this to the same tune)

Finishing up with baby hands, the twins holding hands while they sleep.

  1. Those tiny hands are the winner this week - though they were challenged by your other photos.

    1. Elephant's Child; the hands are definitely winners, I had that one printed and framed and now it sits on my bedside cupboard.

  2. I won't be putting up any Halloween items this year. I will be visiting my oldest son and his family then.
I'm having trouble with blogger. I can't get in to post. I change my passwords to lot of my accounts. Hope to have it figure out soon.

    1. Dora; I don't put things up for Halloween either, these statues are always up on top of my DVD shelves just because I like them. Hope you get blogger sorted soon.

  3. Nice of the girls to pay tribute to the Queen. She was an amazing woman.
Wonder if the bird was trying to reconstitute the dried worms by soaking them?
Oh my, those hands are just too precious.

    1. Arkansas Patti; the girls just want to be sure The Queen is now 'forever happy'. I think the crow was softening the dried worms, but don't know if they are feeding babies. I hope so.
Those hands make my heart swell every time I see them.

  4. We copped a lot...a lot of very heavy rain through Thursday night. Unexpected storms hit and boy, they sure had a load of water they wanted to unload!

May the coming week be filled with more happiness than the past couple were, and you are able to grab a big bundle of it, River. Cuddles to the lovely Lady Lola. :)

    1. Lee; I have been seeing your rains on the tv news, it certainly is very wet up there now and in NSW too. I'm feeling better within myself now the royal funeral is over, the happiness is returning.

  5. It was a six day pool game I think. Then the planets were in place.
Good to see the twins bonding.
The tee shirt is excellent. What a clever writer.

    1. Andrew; you're right, a six day game :)
The twins are always close together, I learned yesterday, when they first came home from the hospital they just cried and cried until they were put into the same tiny cot, then they settled immediately. So now they stay together as much as possible. I like the t-shirt, but may not wear it too often, it's a bit too snug and I like them loose. I'll have to work on losing the next five or ten kilos.

  8. Aha. So the theory I knew is gone, let´s go to the billiard-table ;-)
Ours stands right behind us and now I´m afraid what happens if I....

I always love rain, especially when we´re home in Madeley/Perth, where we have a tinned roof!
Just like when I was a kid... sweet memories.
Is there a difference between crows and raven? I had one here yesterday. I think he was old. He was too lazy to take off (he seemed otherwise healthy).
I love these birds. So clever - he knew I´m no danger.

I think, yes. The Queen is with her Hubby again and this time she can laugh as loud as she wants, she is free.

Oh, the windmill!!! I would love to have one! We saw them for real so often and I even took pics (back in the day that was expensive, really.)

I LOVE that t-shirt!!!! I missed your Birthday? In that case happy be-cheesed one, to a great new year full of joy, health and happiness!
And cheese! And yes, thank you, earworm....

As said before. It must be nice to have someone to hold on to.
I remember how lonely I felt as a child, yay for those two having each other - to a nice Sunday.
    Here grey, but no rain.

    1. Iris; there is a difference between crows and ravens, but not much, one is smaller but I don't remember which and the crows we have here are actually "little ravens" but we call them crows anyway. It's unusual for one to not fly away.
The windmill is ornamental and not much taller than me, I've had it for years.
I love the t-shirt too, but it fits a little too snug, I have to lose a few more kilos for it to be comfortable. My birthday was last month. I am 70 now.
I love the twins having each other and they like to be close where they can feel and smell each other.

    2. Happy year of being 70! I was thrown back 30 years in time today and thought. Hm, would I want that?! No.
Your ravens are so clever, they chat, I love them! Ours are so boring, vocal-wise.

  9. The game of pool is a perfect example. LOL Also glad to see Gillian taking a ride in Tardis. And oh those sweet baby hands!

    1. Granny Annie; The baby hands is the sweetest thing! They love being close together so they can touch and know they are not alone.

  10. I too sometimes wish for a Tardis.

    The cheese shirt is brilliant!

    1. Steve Reed; this little Tardis is a money box, you push the doors and they open and you hear David Tennant saying "Did you miss me?", then you put your coins in the slot and as you push the doors closed the blue light comes on and you hear the sound of the Tardis leaving. I thought the Cheese shirt was great.

  11. I love the birdbath ripples and your shirt, and of course the precious hands of the twins!

    1. Val; the shirt is the sort that needs ironing after washing and drying, so I won't be wearing it much because I don't iron. the hands are so sweet aren't they?

  12. Sweet baby hands. But rain! sigh. We're in for a rainy week, and I feel down just thinking of this. Why can't it only rain in the nigth?

    1. Charlotte; I am heartily sick of rain! Which is something I never thought I would say, but again today, it drizzled all the way to the shop and back. Rain only at night would be perfect.

  13. Belated birthday, Love this shirt, hinted I wanted one a while back but didn't have your luck. Glad the 3 girls are back and the hands pic of the babies is still delightful.

    1. WWW; beware the shirt sizings. I ordered an X-Large thinking it might hang a bit loose, but it is definitely snug.
