Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by Alex J. Cavanaugh and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1. staple 2. symbolic 3. relic 4. ebony 5. flames  and/or:  1. moon 2. general 3. drums 4. presto 5. thrilled Charlotte's colour of the month is pearl opal green which I have not managed to use this week. Here is my story: Ava was thrilled to be allowed to watch the symbolic tribal harvest ritual. Last year she had been too young and had lain awake in her hut hearing the drums and general merriment, but now s...

It's fixed! It's fixed!

"no-one" came knocking on my door around morning-tea time, I gave up my computer chair and she got to work.  Plugged things in, turned them on, downloaded and installed a new updated printer driver, did  a few other things and then we tested it.  It worked!! I'm so happy. I owe her my sanity. I printed copies of my most recent Friday stories, but sadly the rest are lost as I accidentally "cleared queue" and if I want copies I'll have to scroll back through several weeks worth of posts and print from those.  I've done that before when catching up after being unable to afford printer ink and it's a lot of work. I have the time, but I'll have to wait until I'm in the mood.  Thank you "no-one" 💖💖

Sunday Selections # 715

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally. my Hoya finally developed a few new sets of buds, which hang upside down as you can see, this is why I hang it high, so I can look up and see the stars when the buds open. one of my aeoniums has been damaged by a large truck and the workers the stem is broken, so I'll cut it off and take cuttings to plant elsewhere. one surviving Zinnia from the half packet of seeds I tossed into that pot is showing stronger sets of leaves now so ...

Help please?

I do not have much understanding when it comes to technical problems. Usually I ask "no-one" for help, but she doesn't know what to do this time.  My old printer developed a problem where the paper feed was jammed and began ripping the paper as it fed through. I bought a new printer, same brand, same model. Plugged it in and for a few minutes was able to print a few pages.  Now it continually tells me it is "offline" and won't print at all. I followed online advice to the point where it suggested removing the printer then adding it back. So I clicked on "remove" then clicked on "add printer" and then the instructions lost me.  I suspect now the laptop thinks I don't have a printer at all.  Is there anyone who can explain this all to me in words a complete idiot can understand so I can plug in my printer and use it.  AFTER I'd "removed" it (printer or driver? I don't know) I noticed a line that said "change pri...

His mental anguish knew no bounds. On his way home from the pub, he’d stopped at the newly...

Monday Mural

Image
NOT a photo taken by me, but I was watching a TV series, Bad Monkey, based on the book by Carl Hiaasen, one of my favourite authors when this beautiful wall popped up in an episode: so I paused the scene and took a photo, joining in with Sami and others who participate in the Monday Mural meme. The show is set in Miami, most (or all?) of Carl Hiaasen's books are based in Florida.

Beginning with more views of the riverbank where the OzAsia Festival and Dragon were: on the city side of the river, this is our Railway Station, the top half used to be posh bathrooms and other things that I can't remember, but is now our Casino. I never go there. entrance to the railway station is a longish walk down this gently sloping ramp, easy on the way down, not so easy for old and tired legs on the way up but I do it anyw...
