Sunday Selections #727
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us more often.
Elephant's Child is taking a break for the month of February.
Beginning with the final photos of the Chihuly exhibition, these were taken inside the "Conservatorium" which has ground level walks and also a "tree walk" accessed by steps to get a bird's eye view.
I'm sure you will all agree
pretty spectacular
in cheerful yellows
fiery "flames", these are in the lily pond
dreamy purples
and multi coloured too.
different shapes
these remind me of bullrushes
red and green, favourite colours of friend Iris
bulbous too
with "eyes"?
one could call this "glass elephant blue" to go with Charlotte's colour of the month
globe vase with flowers? stems?
looking down, and zooming in, on the "flames" in the pond
after climbing the steps
to the walkway which goes up and down and around and if you are there at the right time you get damp when the overhead watering system is turned on.
back at home, I have been using my stick blender a lot this summer
to make delicious banana smoothies
the girls prefer wearing next to nothing while the temperatures rise.
Jacaranda trees are setting dozens of seed pods
I thought my quiet day was going to be spoiled by tree cutters/trimmers
going up...
but they were just cleaning out gutters, about time too, it's been several years since this was last done.
meanwhile, the redheads have found themselves >>>
a skateboard!
Meg, "we don't know where it came from,"
Jordan, "but we are happy to have it."
Boy, did you get me by surprise! I just finished my "homework" (session 3 of 6, all due on 19th, oh, help, my teacher is so darn strict), it is Saturday 04:30-ish in the afternoon and BOOM, your Sunday already!
ReplyDeleteThe exhibition is really wonderful.
LOL, yes - I last weekend colored a cupboard red for our spices in the red kitchen from where you can look into the green "laundry-room"!
Reminds me... I still have frozen raspberries in the freezer, and milk I have, too (but it´s too cold!).
Oh, my (certainly green) baby-chair from IKEA says hi (I use it as step for when I need to reach something).
Cute skateboard. And moves!
Ingo is preparing dinner atm, I think I will call a night early today (will have to work on Sunday, too, buhuu (could start only 3 days later as the young rest of the pupils).
Iris; red is a great colour for a spice cupboard. Keep the raspberries for the summer and make a smoothie then. I hope you get the "homework" done in time. What did Ingo cook for dinner? I just made a giant pot of spaghetti sauce and now have seven containers to put in the freezer for the coming winter, each container will be two serves for me and I have one serve set aside for tonight, just have to cook the pasta later. The skateboard was left out on the footpath with other things someone was giving away, so I took that, but the others things I didn't need.
DeleteYes, the board will hang on the red wall. Here another grey day, I really want summer so bad... Ingo again made the rice pan with beef, peas, carrots, really spicy. Spaghetti we had so often, I need a break! I have two boxes of give-aways in the hall, but with the snow I have to wait... -2C, -9C expected. Yuck. Homework now...
DeleteI like how the twins have their own table. "No shirt, no shoes, STILL SERVICE!" The gutter-cleaners would have been interesting to watch. Something you don't see every day. I would have been worried that they might tip over in the lift.
ReplyDeleteVal; no shirt, no shoes STILL SERVICE! I like that. The gutter cleaners only used the lift to get up onto the roofs, from there they used a pressure hose to clean the roofs and a scoop to get the muck out of the gutters and bag it. The lift is like those "cherry pickers", very sturdy and safe. They even wore hard hats, boots and gloves as required by our Health and Safety Laws.
DeleteCertainly, the "conservatorium" is very colourful, interesting and beautiful...fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI'm with the twins. The garb they where during the heat of summer is similar to my own....in-house, of course!! :)
Have a good week ahead, River...take care. My cuddles to Lovely Lady Lola.
Lee; I think you would love a walk through the Conservatorium. I get around inside with very little clothing too, in the heatwaves. Lola thanks you.
DeleteThe walkway looks well located for visitors to view the entire space. And to take photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warning - I will wear a waterproof hat.
hels; will you come to visit the Conservatorium? The Chihuly displays are here until April.
DeleteWhat a terrific display that has been. Well done to the creators.
ReplyDeleteOne of the twins seems to have a Vegemite face.
Andrew; the displays were lovely. I think that is chocolate pudding on their faces.
DeleteI enjoyed all of it and agree with the twins, summer is the best time for a child to wear only a diaper and a smile (and a chocolate mustache).
ReplyDeletemessymimi; summer wear should always be as minimal as possible and little ones get the best deal out of that. And cold chocolate pudding as well.
DeleteThe twins are so cute. I forget that our winter is your summer. We lived in the Mojave Desert when our kids were preschool age. Lots of semi-naked kids running around. It was a great time.
ReplyDeleteSusan Kane; the twins certainly are cute, but identical, so when they wear only nappies I don't know which is Ana and which is Gen until I ask them. I remember a beach filled with semi-naked kids and toddlers every summer.
DeleteFun on the skate board it seems. The glass is just magic and looking down from the ramp, well the colour is beautiful and does stand out well.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D; I love the little skateboard, found it on a roadside dump still wrapped in plastic with the tags attached. The walkway is my favourite part of the conservatorium.
DeleteAll of the items in the display are just so beautiful - thanks for sharing them. Those twins are certainly growing up fast!
ReplyDeletejenny_o; they are growing up too fast, they'll be in school in the blink of an eye. The Chihuly exhibits were really something special weren't they?
DeleteI prefer the real life flora to the man-made items. Was your banana smoothie also "glass elephant blue"? In Great Britain the bananas we receive from foreign lands tend to be yellow - though green when unripened.
ReplyDeleteYorkshire Pudding; I like real and manmade flora, the manmade doesn't need watering or weeding and the real has fragrances and variations. My banana smoothies are a creamy yellow colour inside a blue glass.
DeleteWhat interesting yard art.
ReplyDeleteDora; this is an exhibition of Chihuly blown glass art in our botanic Gardens, the works are huge! If you google you can learn about Chihuly and his works.
DeleteI love how the exhibition brig splashes of colour to the 'Conservatorium'. The redheads are fun to watch, and it makes me wonder where they found that skateboard. Is it one like my kids would call a finger board, for 'skating' with two fingers on?
ReplyDeleteCharlott; the exhibition certainly is colourful. The skateboard is toddler sized, apparently there's a few babies/toddlers who love to be rolled along on them. I found it on a roadside "dump" area and brought it home. The twins each have one and my great grandson also has one, along with all the necessary safety equipment.
