Sunday Selections # 749
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
Beginning today with something I saw on a real estate listing:
an older style concrete laundry tub AND it's a triple! Most tubs back then were doubles, triples were mostly out on farms I think. I'd love one of these! (and a laundry big enough to hold it.)
Walking around the block recently I saw this beautiful red camellia
there's not many left on the tree, the winds have blown them to the footpath
I saw this cute little meerkat village
Spinach and parsley in this one
my phone app tells me this is cow-slip
peas in this one and something else that I can't remember
all that greenery on the fence is Jasminus Polyanthus, the night-scented jasmine that I am so allergic to, thank goodness it isn't flowering yet.
jonquil paperwhites are flowering now
this poor woman seems to have lost her head over something, perhaps she's been reading the newspapers.

a white picket fence with a black wrought iron gate is always pleasing to the eye.
someone has made a pretty place to sit
a near perfect rose in one of my favourite colours
a patch of blue in an otherwise grey day
one of my favourite coffee mugs, who am I kidding, they're all my favourites.
Meanwhile the redheads took themselves out hunting:
"can we keep him? Please?"
Interesting, I have never seen 3 sinks together ! Usually they are only two in a bathroom. The Dinosaurs you can keep, I had an overdose when my grandson was little !
ReplyDeleteIngrid; I've seen plenty of two-sink bathrooms, but never a three-sink concrete laundry tub. Most bathrooms around here have only one sink.
DeleteI love how the redheads have dressed for their hunt! I'm wondering about the raised beds on the footpath. It seems like they would be vulnerable to ne'er-do-wells taking what they wanted from them.
ReplyDeleteVal; the redheads are dressed for the weather, it's winter here. The raised beds are safe, this is a safe suburb and I believe the owners don't mind if someone picks a bit of parsley or a few peas, maybe even a spinach leaf or two. I never have because I don't like spinach and always have plenty of dried parsley on hand.
DeleteI've not seen a triple laundry trough, but I've very familiar with concrete doubles.

Andrew; I have never seen a triple either, but plenty of doubles. I've even had them in places I've rented. The little garden seat is pretty and you could sit looking at the garden or looking down the driveway if you are waiting for someone. I like the mug.

Elephant's Child; welcome back. I love the triple trough, I think it would be so handy. Those little footpath gardens are always doing well and the jonquil paperwhites remind us spring is on the way. I'm looking forward to being warmer, but that means the jasmine will be blooming and I won't be able to walk around the blocks here until for a few months.

DeleteWe have no broken leaks here but reckon you´d "cry" over our bathroom-/toilet-situation (why we took it? Affordable and how much time do you spend in those rooms).
ReplyDeleteAll that´s growing well here is the bean Ingo presented me with, parsley and one third of the bee flowers.
I didn´t watch the news the last two days, head is still attached somehow... (study-situation drives me nuts instead)
How did Rexi get back to Australia?! Just because I use my "Bee Happy"-mug with cool water instead of hot tea with him?! Please, Redheads, be nice with him. He likes tea with milk.
Iris; it's true we don't spend much time in those rooms, but I still like enugh space so I can clean in there without bashing knees and elbows on things.
DeleteRexi was found all packaged up in a box in a K-Mart. The redheads love him and are trying to feed him pizza.
Pizza is as great!!!! Yes, I sure have to bend down to clean, ugh. Most I dislike is that none has a window. Well and the shower room no door (sits in the cellar, took up too much space).
DeleteI love that people make the effort to put out little displays that many would pass by without even noticing.
ReplyDeleteThe raised mixed beds are such a nice idea. They soften the landscape and attract insects.
The redheads have been having fun - good to see.
jabblog; I had similar displays in my garden until one day a few things got stolen, now everything is inside on top of a cupboard gathering dust, and the plants out there are so tall no one could see if I put things back out there. The raised beds are always full of something and there are often plenty of bees around them. The redheads are huddled on a shelf now plotting their next adventure.

ReplyDeleteSteve Reed; I imagine you do feel like that mug right now. The redheads are hoping to get outdoors again soon. It's winter here yet so much is blooming or about to bloom.
DeleteThat sink reminds me of campsites, where we rated them after number of sinks, working faucets and a big plus for plugs :)

Charlotte; I never went camping, but when out anywhere away from home I rated places by how clean the toilets were and if they had enough paper.
DeleteThe redheads are keeping "Rexi" but want to go out and see what else they can find.
The pots of parsley, spinach etc are fresh and attractive. And you don't take an entire heap as you have to do at the supermarket.. just enough for one meal. Basil is also easy to grow.
ReplyDeletehels; yes, just take enough for one person at one meal, though I never do, I have enough at home. I have never managed to grow basil where I am currently living but a neighbour does and allows me to pick a few leaves when I need them.

ReplyDeleteDora; I like parsley, but spinach tastes like dirt to me. My dad never liked spinach either, while mum and my siblings ate it when it was served.
DeleteThanks for those photos - very cheery. I had to laugh at your tableaux at the end - I it seems several hundred shots of various stuffed animals and plays that my now 15 year old put together when she was younger!
