Sunday Selections # 755

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.

Beginning today with a short video, hope it plays:

Last Friday was storm day here in Adelaide, we even had hail!

though it didn't last much longer than it took to take this photo

walking to the shop Saturday I expected to see more damage

than just a few small branches

on roads and footpaths

this tiny toy shoe, only an inch long is still there, I expected it would get blown away with the wild winds we had.

I rode one of the newer buses recently and the seat covers are very nice

comfortable too.

I was headed into town for this new shopping trolley/jeep, having finally got tired of cheap replacements where the bags always tear along the seams.

This bronze statue is in the Myer Centre, I've shown it before many years ago now

from the other side

a pretty pink rosebud

which later opened into this delicate-pink and white rose

I spy with my little eye

an unbroken bird nest

look at that clever weaving job!

my brother spent a few days in Murray Bridge after our trip up north, the boat you see is just one of our paddle boats, probably the biggest and best,

"Proud Mary", she gets hired for all kinds of things tourist trips, wedding receptions, birthday parties. Well, she used to when I lived there, don't know about now...

finishing with a cartoon from our local newspaper:

"The Advertiser"

    1. Mike; yes, coffee and chocolate, or perhaps tea and cookies.

  3. I wonder if the bird's nest is a current one.
The statue looks like a Gillies and Marc effort. They are all over the world and just terrific.
You won't lose the trolley with its bright colouring.
The bus seat covers are a bit different and nice.

    1. Andrew; I never lose my trolleys, but the cheap ones from the reject shop too often tore apart, hence the sturdier new version. I think the statue is a Gilles and Marc, I didn't look closely. The bird's nest looks unused, no scraps of feathers so perhaps it blew out of a tree before eggs were laid?

  4. I saw the snow in NSW and northern Victoria, and thought climate change had arrived at its shocking maximum. But hail in Adelaide must have made the locals even more anxious :(

    1. Hels; it was very short lived hail and we do have it occasionally, often enough to not worry the people here. The Mt Lofty part of the hills area had snow like it does almost every winter.

  5. Interesting weather! Good not to be out in that. Perhaps the bird's nest was a victim? We have some very dumb birds build a nest every year on the electric pole in front of our house - not dangerous in terms of electricity thank goodness but not protected from wind. It has been blown down annually. Rarely do we get chicks to leaving the nest stage but they won't be told, unfortunately.

    1. jeanie; it was interesting watching through my window, I didn't go out except a few inches from my front door to het the hail photo. The birds nest is from a few weeks back.

  6. I love your shopping trolley! I like the sound of a downpour, and even hail, as long as my metal chairs aren't being blown off the porch. I watched your video twice, just to hear it. A tiny toy shoe on a footpath. How appropriate.

    1. Val; I think the twins will love the shopping trolley more, it has pink and purple, their favourite colours. I almost brought the tiny shoe home but don't really have a need for it.

  7. As you know I LOVE rain. And "sadly" we always are in Perth in summer, so chances are small.
Once rain for 3 minutes!!!! Sami (who sent you the pirate-bear) and Grace called to ask if we have rain, too.... "LOL". I got phone calls for rain!
    Thank you for the video!
The shoe is very, very cute! And the seat covers are nice indeed. Happy!
We always have a trolley like that in Madeley, too. From Thingz. Cool statue! A bit crazy!
Oh, poor bird who lost the nest! Cool boat.
I am still waiting for my Jamie Oliver book....

    1. Iris; I hope you get more rain next time you are in Perth. Where did you order the Jamie Oliver book from? Surely it should be there by now? Contact the company and let them know.

  8. The seats are really very tasteful and not boring at all ! I hate storms, we don't have them very often here, but if it happens it takes roofs and trees away !

    1. Ingrid; I like our colourful bus seats. I love storms, but don't like the damage they can do.

  10. I like the shopping trolley, really cheery. I love the photographer dog. The architecture of some bird's nests is really intricate, and all done with beaks!

    1. jabblog; thank you. I like the photographer dog too, there used to be other bronze pieces but I don't remember where or what. I remember large rabbits having cups of tea or something similar. Birds were the original weavers I think and some clever person way back in the very early stages of man copied the idea. I could be wrong, but without a time machine, we'll never know.
