Sunday Selections #774
Charlotte's colour of the month is Carmine, a lovely shade that is a tad pinker than red, but not enough to be crimson.
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Beginning today with one last "Christmas House"
a near neighbour decorated her/his porch area
a discarded football beanie. On purpose? Maybe someone was disgusted with the team? More likely accidentally dropped.
Someone got a new bed for Christmas and left the old mattress out on the footpath, that dark spot you see on the far side is a burn hole. I guess someone was smoking in bed and got lucky they didn't burn the house down!
I caught the sun winking at me through the tree
The bark on this tree is quite interesting
in the way it splits and curls in long strips
as the tree grows itself another layer at the core
this is from "no-one", two rainbow lorikeets in her pear tree, we hope they will leave enough pears for her.
the pool that Santa left at the twins house was a big hit! They even had water toys included.
Dad decided to be King for the day and wore one as a crown

my oven gloves too are pretty close to carmine
this Day of the Dead figurine has a Carmine Bouquet (it's Bookay dear ha ha) and carmine in her hair too
while this one has a carmine headpiece
and my daily apple was almost carmine.

I miss Sue. I think of her each time I go outside to shoot frozen bubbles. Great collection of photos, River. Yuck on the mattress.
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Whisk; I do too, her bird and kangaroo photos too and her garden. I have never tried to freeze bubbles, it just doesn't get cold enough where I am.

I still am stuck with the apple cake, buhuh. And the onion one.
Iris; it is all beautiful. I have the rainbow lorikeets here too, but the trees are so dense with leaves I never see them, only hear them. Then I find half eaten plums all over my footpath. From the possums too. Pool-time! Every summer I wish I had one. But I know thye are a lot of work. How do you make your apple cake?
DeleteSame here with the woodpecker! I hear him but never see him! So sad... My parents had cherry trees and the birds picked a cherry and then another, never ate the whole fruit. Why do animals do that? I must maybe google that but the cherry trees are sadly long gone, my Brother had to tear them down as they were old.
DeleteThe apple cake I bought a ready to go mixture when my sweet tooth woke up. And I have apples. The onion cake from scratch apart from the dough. Hopefully coming week.

"King of the Pool" looks like he's having a good time! That IS a large pool. I'm sure it will be a favorite hangout. The tree which allows the sun to wink is indeed an interesting texture. The lorikeet picture is cool. I would never be able to see such things here!
ReplyDeleteVal; "King of the Pool" was having a great time. He's one of those people who were born happy and stayed that way. He has a few worries now and again, but his basic nature is Happy. I am glad I am able to show you things you would otherwise never see.

Wow, yeah, whoever owned that mattress is lucky to be alive. Unless they considered burning it to discard it, and then thought better of it? That is unusual tree bark! What team is the beanie for? I see Adelaide but I can't read the rest.

ReplyDeleteThe tree bark looks a lot like our crepe myrtles, they do something similar.
