Sunday Selections #774
Charlotte's colour of the month is Carmine, a lovely shade that is a tad pinker than red, but not enough to be crimson.
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
Beginning today with one last "Christmas House"
a near neighbour decorated her/his porch area
a discarded football beanie. On purpose? Maybe someone was disgusted with the team? More likely accidentally dropped.
Someone got a new bed for Christmas and left the old mattress out on the footpath, that dark spot you see on the far side is a burn hole. I guess someone was smoking in bed and got lucky they didn't burn the house down!
I caught the sun winking at me through the tree
The bark on this tree is quite interesting
in the way it splits and curls in long strips
as the tree grows itself another layer at the core
this is from "no-one", two rainbow lorikeets in her pear tree, we hope they will leave enough pears for her.
the pool that Santa left at the twins house was a big hit! They even had water toys included.
Dad decided to be King for the day and wore one as a crown
Using Charlotte's colour of the month, this gnome's hat is a bit too red to be called carmine
This gnome's hat and gloves are closer, as are his bright cheeks
the cup image on my hotplate cover could be carmine
Yes? well half of it.
my oven gloves too are pretty close to carmine
this Day of the Dead figurine has a Carmine Bouquet (it's Bookay dear ha ha) and carmine in her hair too
while this one has a carmine headpiece
and my daily apple was almost carmine.

I miss Sue. I think of her each time I go outside to shoot frozen bubbles. Great collection of photos, River. Yuck on the mattress.
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Whisk; I do too, her bird and kangaroo photos too and her garden. I have never tried to freeze bubbles, it just doesn't get cold enough where I am.
Delete❤️❤️❤️❤️
DeleteThe winking sun is so beautiful! And the blue sky! And isn´t nature so clever! And to repeat, beautiful (lorikeets).
ReplyDeleteTo pool-time - I need to start to pack! To Carmine - our kitchen is rather red, though.
I still am stuck with the apple cake, buhuh. And the onion one.
Iris; it is all beautiful. I have the rainbow lorikeets here too, but the trees are so dense with leaves I never see them, only hear them. Then I find half eaten plums all over my footpath. From the possums too. Pool-time! Every summer I wish I had one. But I know thye are a lot of work. How do you make your apple cake?
DeleteSame here with the woodpecker! I hear him but never see him! So sad... My parents had cherry trees and the birds picked a cherry and then another, never ate the whole fruit. Why do animals do that? I must maybe google that but the cherry trees are sadly long gone, my Brother had to tear them down as they were old.
DeleteThe apple cake I bought a ready to go mixture when my sweet tooth woke up. And I have apples. The onion cake from scratch apart from the dough. Hopefully coming week.
W gave me his phone number and... I must look for it, oh, darn!
"King of the Pool" looks like he's having a good time! That IS a large pool. I'm sure it will be a favorite hangout. The tree which allows the sun to wink is indeed an interesting texture. The lorikeet picture is cool. I would never be able to see such things here!
ReplyDeleteVal; "King of the Pool" was having a great time. He's one of those people who were born happy and stayed that way. He has a few worries now and again, but his basic nature is Happy. I am glad I am able to show you things you would otherwise never see.
DeleteSo many great photos. Love that trees, the pool kind and the day of the dead figures. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteDVArtist; thank you.
DeleteUn bon assortiment de coses de color carmí.
ReplyDeleteLa piscina m'encanta. ;-)
sa lluna; thank you, I love carmine, it's the best of the red shades.
DeleteThat was a good effort to find so much carmine around. The pool looks great, even to adult eyes. I'm sure it will get plenty of use.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; I didn't think I had that much carmine here, but I look around and see more that I haven'y photograped yet. With the twins and their three brothers that pool will get a lot of use.
DeleteYou have a good selection this Sunday as always R. Well done.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D; thank you.
DeleteLovely selection, River. The twins were very happy with their pool and I like all your carmine selections.
ReplyDeletejabblog; thank you. I'm happy the twins have three older brothers so one can always be there when Dad J is at work. Mum S is in a wheelchair and can only supervise, but one or other of the boys will always be in there when the girls are.
DeleteSome lovely photographs here.
ReplyDeleteMy favourites are the ones showing the trees.
The pool ones made me smile ... the little ones so enjoy it.
May the week ahead be a good one for you.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb Team member; thank you. I like our Australian trees too, each has their own bark different to others and all look different when the barks peel off. That pool will get a lot of use.
DeleteGreat shots of carmine! Love the gnomes and Day of the Dead figurine in particular. I posted a bunch of photos today for Sunday Selections too. I don't know if I'm supposed to leave a link but if so, here it is --

Debra She Who Seeks; Thank you. I think I saw yours yesterday but I will have another look. I know I didn't leave comments at most sites yesterday I was a bit unsettled and very tired after a visitor left.
DeleteWow, yeah, whoever owned that mattress is lucky to be alive. Unless they considered burning it to discard it, and then thought better of it? That is unusual tree bark! What team is the beanie for? I see Adelaide but I can't read the rest.
ReplyDeleteSteve Reed; yes, lucky to be alive, he or she must have still been awake when the burning began. Burning of mattresses here is not allowed, especially in blocks of flats where the entire block could go up in flames. That particular block of flats has very little yard space.
DeleteThe beanie is for the Adelaide Crows, Adelaide in red stiching and Crows in smaller yellow stitching under that.
These are very nice selections, especially of the carmine and near carmine items.
ReplyDeleteThe tree bark looks a lot like our crepe myrtles, they do something similar.
messymimi; thank you. Yes, we have crepe myrtles here too and I have noticed the bark peeling in a similar fashion.
DeleteLots of Carmine, you did a great job. Twins are delightful and the pool must be a huge hit.

Wisewebwoman; thank you, I was surprised to find so much carmine in my home. The pool IS a huge hit.
DeleteLove your gnomes, and all red in the vicinity count too, thanks for using my colour.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte; I have many more gnomes, but most are in the back porch while these two are inside.
DeleteYeah, that tree bark is really cool.
ReplyDeleteAlex J.Cavanaugh; thank you, it is cool, but doesn't hang long before falling to the ground.
DeleteI used to have a carmine shirt. I do have some bright red T-shirts and polo shirts too - and I think I may have a bright red one somewhere. They stop me looking like a ghost.
ReplyDelete:o)
Cheers
PM
Plasman; I have zero red clothing but I did once have a red swimsuit. Oops, I forgot my Christmas Tree Rex t-shirt is red, but not carmine, more fire engine red.
DeleteBeautiful pics!
