Words for Wednesday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.

This month the words/prompts are supplied by Sean Jeating and can be found here

This week's words/prompts are:

1.become  2.emigrate  3.every  4.reliable  5.soonish

and/or:

1.disunited  2.joining  3.million  4.referendum  5.vote

use either list or both, or mix and match, just have fun.

Charlotte's colour of the month is Carmine as seen above the text here.

My own story will hopefully appear on this blog on Friday.

    1. messymimi; I've just finished typing up mine, but I've had to leave the Jim's Shipwreck one for a while. This is something different.

  3. Friends, I've decided to emigrate to Greenland and soonish become a Greenlander. According to my reliable source, Clarissa Carmine, every Greenlander will soon be offered $2 million to vote in a referendum on joining the (dis)united States of America.
    Happy New Year.

    1. Sean Jeating; short and sweet though I don't think even $2 million would be enough for me to vote to join those disunited states. Although voting to not join would be worth that much...
I also have someone emigrating in my story.

    2. I'm in the states and I totally get it. I don't recognize my own country anymore. When the supreme court gave trump immunity to basically do whatever the hell he wanted, that was it. The crazy came out in full force. We will get our country back. It will be a long road back to democracy and for our allies - if we have any left - to trust us again, but we, the people, will take back our country and set it right once again.

    3. Sean Jeating:
Ufff... 2 milions de dòlars és per pensar-ho una bona estona!🤦‍♀️
Què ens trobin ben confessats! 😂

    4. River: I hope someone offers $3 million for voting against. ;-)
MMM: Good luck, Mimi! You will need it. The supporters of the criminal clique in and around the White House have more weapons in their closets.
Paula: I see the bazaar is opened.

  4. Here's mine all words and colour used. Thanks Sean for the words.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I became disunited from my native country when I became twenty years old.
I emigrated. My country didn’t want me anymore. Every January 20th, with unwavering reliability, I commemorate the day I arrived in Canada, joining the many million others who have done the same thing over the years. Soonish, that day will arrive.
I always buy myself something new to celebrate on the anniversary of my entry into this country. My vote this year was for a carmine cashmere sweater.
You see, emigrating here was the best thing I ever did. I love this country, quietly and consistently. It has been so good to me.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Good luck everyone!

    4. Once meeting John McGahern , two pints of Guinness, some sandwiches and two pots of tea later - apart from his work - we'd have talked about: history; many of his colleagues; the (then) political situation; abortion; the (ab)use of language, censorship, the Church.
At one stage he says: "One of the best things in my life so far has been to see the Church's influence fading."
I am glad you made your way, Mary.

    5. I am so glad you found a place and made a home there.

    6. To clarify. I was a disgrace to my family being young and pregnant and it was either the mother and baby concentration camps or marrying in haste and emigrating.
      Thanks for the kind words.

  5. So fitting, I can join:
"If I could emigrate to your country I sure would, the soonish, the better. It is -5C and I had to go outside, glad I didn´t become a piece of ice.
And every time - that is reliable - in this weather my eyes tear up and people think I cry. Luckily they don´t turn into Carmine, my eyes, which they did before, too..."
Do I look forward to Perth!

  6. Here's mine:

  7. When the news broke that Sean Jeating was going to be our new president, I wanted to emigrate. However, every reliable news outlet maintained that he'd be ousted quite soonish. Our country was very disunited and many workers were joining the rebels under the leadership of General Elsie River, "The Warrior Queen". On television, she argued for a new referendum and urged people to vote or "carmine rivers of hot blood" would flow through our streets.

    1. Yorkshire Pudding; another great use of the words, thank you. General Elsie River sounds quite a tough leader.

I do like your blog....and you, though. I hope you have a great rest of the week, dear friend. :)
