Sunday Selections #788
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
Beginning today with the redheads:
"That looks like fun, can I have a go?"
"I've got you," said Riley. "Just a little bump on the head, you'll be fine" "I thought it would be easy," said Mr Rat
Taking a trip down memory lane, this is the wooden coastal boardwalk down by Marino before it was ugraded and made safer. I liked it the way it was, now it has safety rails and is a lot smoother, so people can take their daily runs and even ride bikes along it.
Looking straight down the cliff to the waves and rocks below. I spent a couple of hours wandering along there.
Also from the past, Port Pirie beach from back in 2013, the scribble in the bottom left corner was a face that didn't belong.
Even earlier, from 2011, a stormy pre-dawn taken while walking to work. I had the opening shift at the supermarket, we opened at 6am so I had to be there by 5.30 to get things ready for the first customers. Stacks of daily newspapers, make sure every checkout had a good supply of plastic bags etc.
Sugar cookies with "Craisins" aka dried cranberries, this has to be from 2010, when I lived elsewhere and had a gas stove.
Back to the future now, from last Wednesday, the message on this sweatshirt is so nice I just had to photograph it.
"To the person behind me, you are amazing, beautiful, and enough. Remember that."

I can understand why you would spend a long time exploring that seaside. Beautiful! What does the boardwalk look like now?
ReplyDeleteAlex J Cavanaugh; I haven't been back there since then, but I do know the part that climbed down into a gully ad back up the other side now has a bridge across it instead. Other parts are also upgraded, though I am unsure about bikes being able to be ridden the entire length.
DeleteWho knew Mr. Rat would be such a performer! Your cookies made me want cookies, which I have not wanted in a long time.
ReplyDeleteVal; Mr Rat bashed a few random keys but knows nothing about music so the girls decided they should all come inside. I am sorry I made you want cookies, perhaps you have something to compensate with?
DeleteCookies!
ReplyDeleteMike; I haven't baked cookies in years! Only once since I moved to my current home where the stove is electric and I hate it. This is the first electric stove I have ever had, and even after 15 years I still wish I has gas.
DeleteGreat photo selection! My faves are Mr Rat and friends, those yummy cookies, and the sweatshirt message!
ReplyDeleteDebra She Who Seeks; the sweatshirt message is great isn't it! The cookies were delicious with the tart cranberries a nice counterfoil to the sweet cookie.
DeleteI rely on my gas stove and gas oven.. as you did with your yummy cranberry biscuits.
ReplyDeleteBut perhaps we won't be using gas in the future.
hels; I have heard the rumours and also heard that new build homes are to have only electric which disappoints me greatly. Taking choice away from the people is never a good idea and all great chefs will tell you gas is better for cooking.
DeleteIt looks like the Redheads have fun at whatever they are doing.
ReplyDeleteMy selections this weekend are all from the past.
messymimi; the redheads do have fun, "we are plastic and have no real responsibilities"
DeleteRiley and Mr Rat made me smile.
ReplyDeleteLove the beautiful seaside shots.
The cookies look delicious 😋
Happy Sunday, River!
Veronica Lee; thank you. I loved being down by those cliffs and the ocean.
DeleteLOL, you made me hop up and get Mr Wolf in a Sheepskin I got from my Mum! I´ll add him next Sunday!
ReplyDeleteWhat did Mr Rat play?
Yes to the memory lane and yes to having things ready for the customers. I think you would either cry or yell here.
They open at 7 a.m. and then start stacking. Yes. For crying out loud!
I looooove that shirt - what a nice person to wear that, I want it! To cheering up people!!!
Oh. Wait. I´d need that in German, sad as this is!
Anyways, have a great Sunday!
Iris; I look forward to seeing Mr Wolf! Mr Rat just bashed a few keys, he knows nothing about music but he had fun. I would love to have a shirt like that myself. When I was working, shelves got restocked overnight, there was a crew of people who would begin just as the store was one hour from closing and they would work until midnight. So I only had to check for newspapers, bags and make sure things were clean. Things are different now and much restocking gets done during the day which is annoying for customers in Woolies, don't know about Coles.
DeleteLovely saying on that jacket, R.
ReplyDeleteSafer boardwalk is better, but I don't know about riding bikes down there when people are walking.
Your biscuits are looking good and it's good to remember and share.
Margaret D; I want a jacket/sweatshirt like that. Maybe she had it made specially, since I have never seen one in the shops.
DeleteI am not sure about riding bikes, but the remade sections are wider at least so maybe there is a dividing line? And probably only at either end where the towns are. I will have to get down there and see one day.
The boardwalk walk looks amazing. That would be a great place for my morning hike.
ReplyDelete:o)
Cheers
PM
Plasman; you would love it I'm sure. At that time it was 7km but it has now been connected to other boardwalks north (and maybe south too) and I believe it stretches down from Glenelg, but don't know for sure.
Deletegreat photos this week River. I love the ones from the olden days (ha!) - I read recently that 1972 is as far from us as 1918 was then and I was gobsmacked!!
Deletejeanie; 1972 is a year after I married and a year before my oldest was born. Hard to believe my four "babies" are now in their fifties and forties.
