Sunday Selections #794
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
this is Macca, the twins puppy, technically the family puppy, about 7 months old now, but 5 months when this was taken. He is a very excitable little pug, zooms around at great speed and climbing, clawing, sniffing, scratching and trying to eat any newcomer who visits. When I visited last Thursday he managed to get his nose INSIDE my jacket pocket looking for food.
this is a screen shot taken from the TV, a show I was watching on dvd had these pretty icicle/waterfall lights hanging from trees and I paused it to get the photo because they looked so pretty.
"no-one" gave me a fridge magnet with instructions how to cook a steak to get rare, medium, medium/well-done or well-done meat. It's near the top, just under the starfish and left a bit. To find room for it I had to take everything off the fridge except the oval adhesive chalkboard and rearrange them all, some didn't get put back on at all. While they were all off I washed the fridge door.
can you see the statue? The one that I repaired with the help of a friend. The one that has been "hiding" behind a half grown jade plant. And where is that half grown jade? Stolen. Ripped right out of the ground. I have plenty of them so didn't mind all that much, but I wish they had asked, I would have said yes.
That's a broken branch off the stolen one, carelessly left where it fell bedside the row of mailboxes. I tossed it in the green waste bin.
A car dealership on Glen Osmond Road has very, very shiny, fancy, expensive cars for sale and also has miniature cars in the upper story windows. These are kid-sized battery operated driveable vehicles, with motor sounds and steering wheels, horns etc.
various styles and colours,
even a yellow Go-Kart.
Tricycles,
Bicycles,
and a Penny-Farthing 😀
the sky had blackened quite a bit while I took the photos and I didn't have my umbrella so I hurried on home,
where I found two of the redheads giving their dog, Ruffy, a good brushing,
before they all settled down to read their new books and discuss the stories.
out behind "my" T-Block of 8 flats, the plumbers had been, dug up pipes, fixed them and,
left a pile of broken concrete/bitumen and thick trails of claggy mud in that area and all the way along the side path leading to the front of the flats. I guess "we" are supposed to shift that ourselves? It's been a couple of months now, so I'd say they aren't coming back. At least the mud trails have been washed away by rains.

Macca is a cutie. Looks like he needs considerably less grooming than Ruffy! I love all the vehicles in the windows. As for the plumbing, it seems like workmen don't take pride in their job like they used to.
ReplyDeleteVal; Macca is a PITA but they love him. Any work done around here is from the cheapest possible bidder and Housing doesn't care about any mess left behind. Most plumbing companies who charge a lot more would probably not remove clumps of concrete etc.
DeleteIt is so beautiful to share glimpses of daily life with people from all over the world. Not just "commercial", "staged" photos, but real pieces of life that mean so much more than what they show. This is truly a wonderful category to share! ❤️
ReplyDeleteMary and Chris; thank you, it is nice to see real life from all over and get to know the people a bit. Maybe one day you can join us with photos on your blog?
DeleteQue lindinho o Macca e as fotos todas muito boas!
ReplyDeleteEncanadores e seus coinserto, chega a me dar medo de tanta sujeira fica para a dona da casa!,rs...
Lindo domingo! beijos, chica
chica; Macca is cute but for me annoying, I don't like being jumped on and licked by dogs. This plumbing was an outside job, so no dirt inside for my neighbour.
DeleteI love all your photos! Macca is adorable and precious!
ReplyDeleteLinda's Relaxing Lair; thank you, Macca is cute but I am glad he doesn't live with me.
DeleteI have a cousin who rides an Penny Farthing.
ReplyDeleteDora; that is interesting, I didn't think anyone had those anymore.
DeleteIt's a pity about the rubble being left behind. A case of 'not my job', I guess.
ReplyDeleteThe model cars at the car showroom are new to me. I've never seen them anywhere.
What is that switch on the fridge door? I suppose Sue send you the Floriade cards.
Andrew; maybe a case of not my job, but also a case of what do we do with concrete rubble? I have known about the model cars for a while, my great grandson has a Mercedes and several construction vehicles that he drives around the property. The switch on the fridge door up at the top? It's a battery operated LED light for when the power goes out. Yes, the Floriade cards and magnets are from Sue and I will keep them forever.
DeleteMore thoughts, if you employ a plumber privately, I think they do clean up. That wasn't always the case. It is probably wrong that the plumbers didn't clean up afterwards.
DeleteI am very excited about redheads. Not only are yours goodlooking but as the reading activity shows, they are very intellectual as well.
ReplyDeletehels; the redheads are smarter than me for sure.
DeleteSweet dog there and it knows where the food is kept then R.
ReplyDeleteThat is a mess the plumbers left, seems they don't clean up after themselves - just plumbers.
The red head are looking good, and the jade plant - can't seem to grow them inside here or at the shaded front door.
Margaret D; there was no food in my pocket, he is a breed I am told is constantly searching and eating pretty much anything, so has to be watched. Last visit I pulled blue plastic from his mouth, he's been stripping the edge off the mini trampoline.
DeleteJades need lots of sunlight and warmth, a shaded front door is no good, put them in the hottest part of your garden.
The jade-story really made me sad. Why not ask??? Does that person really enjoy the plant? He/she could be your friend now... what a waste.
ReplyDeleteWow on the Penny-Farthing. The other... Braunschweig is near Wolfsburg aka Volkswagen. Rich guys who buy such cars for their kids for real. As well as mini-Nike-shoes and stuff the kids actually not even care about but that´s how you grow arrogant people...
Not a fan...
Then better care for your dog, read and talk about it!
Shame about the "left-behinds"!
Iris; I am not sad about the jade, just annoyed. I am happy to see that penny-farthing up in the window, it reminds people of how things began. Great grandson loves his mini Mercedes, but prefers the construction vehicles, the tractor and trailer and the back-hoe and the bulldozer. He doesn't get things like name brand shoes or clothes unless they are from a thrift shop or given by friends.
DeleteI might pick up some of the concrete rubble bits and put them in my garden for stepping stones.
My Niece wished for an ant. I gave her a container with a magnifier so she can catch an ant and study it. Little did I know my Brother referred to the construction vehicle as "ant"...
DeleteFunny that kids are so interested in construction - good, actually!
"I guess "we"".
ReplyDeleteCall the landlord. They can harass the plumbing company.
Mike; I live in subsidised housing, the landlord is the government, they don't care. Possibly all repair people are chosen by bidding, the cheapest company gets the job it seems.
DeleteI enjoyed your selections. It’s fun the Redheads have their own dog.
ReplyDeleteHow sad about the stolen plant and the mess the plumbers left.
messymimi; the redheads love their dog and sometimes ride him like a pony. The stolen plant is more annoying than sad. As for the mess, it's common around here and I wonder if even in private homes a plumber still wouldn't take away a mess of concrete rubble. That would be up to the home owner.
DeleteOhhh Macca is so darn cute. I enjoyed your post very much and wish you a happy day.
ReplyDeleteDVArtist; Macca is cute, but still in annoying zoom everywhere eat everything stage.
DeleteOh my gosh, that little yellow brush/comb thingy. Too stinkin' cute.
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Whisk; that is a Barbie hairbrush I htink.
Deleteso cute!
DeleteThatv puppy is adorable.
ReplyDeleteRuby Rose and the Big Little Angels 3; and incredibly "licky". I hate being licked on by dogs. He will calm down as he grows I guess. But I am not there everyday, so each time I arrive he is excited by someone "new"
DeleteMacca sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteGood workmen clear up after themselves - it's a disgrace to leave so much rubbish behind.
Happy 4th birthday to the twins tomorrow.
jabblog; Macca could be fun, but not for me, I dislike being jumped on and licked, especially my face. The twins are excited to be BIG girls now.
DeleteI wonder if perhaps the plumbers just didn't know what to do with all that rubble, many "workers" called in by housing are young trainees.
That's a cute puppy.
ReplyDelete:o)
Cheers
PM
Plasman; very cute, but not for me, I don't like beng licked and he is relentless searching anyone for food.
