f....is for

It's time again to join in with Toni from Chick-Chat and her "a...is for" meme this week's letter is F f.....is for Friendship. and fudge. When I was little I was very shy and didn't make friends easily, it takes me a while to get used to people even now. I've always been surprised to find that people actually like me. I mentioned this once when my eldest daughter told me that her friends and their mothers liked me. She said why wouldn't they, you're a nice person. Since I first started reading blogs and then writing my own, I've made many friendships both local and international. Some of these people I have met in real life, some I haven't and may never do so, but I'm pleased to count all of you as my friends. In the interests of friendship and sharing, I now give to you my melt-in-the-mouth Chocolate Fudge recipe. (I may have posted it before, but here it is again). Chocolate Fudge. 125g unsalted butter ( not margar...

what does Sheldon Cooper eat?

In the Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Cooper is very specific about his diet. He was heard to tell Ramona, an eager young student, that "on Mondays I eat Thai Food ", with specific instructions as to which menu items he prefers, when she offered to bring him dinner. The "Barbecue Burger" at The Cheesecake Factory restaurant has become his new Tuesday night hamburger. I'm fairly sure that Wednesdays are dedicated to Chinese food brought home by Leonard Hoftsteder, from the "-------? Palace" Thursdays are Pizza night. But what about the rest of the week? They've left us in the dark here. There are three more nights. Friday.  Saturday.  Sunday. What do the boys eat then? Do they all tuck in to Howard's mother's melt-in -the-mouth Brisket? With roasted potatoes and carrots? Does Rajesh supply Indian food? Although that seems unlikely as Raj has mentioned that Indian food disagrees with him and he much prefers American food....

Whimsical Wednesday #60

Image
Welcome back to Whimsical Wednesday! The day for the googled giggle that gets you over the hump that is Wednesday and sliding down into the weekend. Hay-larious!

warning, food post!

Image
JahTeh, click away now. I was shoulders deep into the cupboard the other day checking on how many jars of pasta sauce I had, when I found a can of crushed pineapple I'd forgotten about. Well, I couldn't leave that poor lonely can just sitting there in the dark now, could I? so out it came and I made these... pineapple pies! I made a little meringue.... and topped the pies.... ....baked them in the oven at a low temperature (150*C-180*C) until they were delicately browned and so very yummy! I took one to work and left it on the lunchroom table with instructions to "help yourself". I ate the other one over several days. Which shows great restraint on my part, because I could very easily have eaten the whole thing in one go.

What irritates you...Monday

Image
today is another "What irritates you...Monday" -  a meme started by Delores at The Feathered Nest. On this day we get to vent about little things that irritate enough to make us grumpy about them. Today I'm irritated about people who meander diagonally across pedestrian crossings. I even have a diagram for you. Done by a little known artist, ( me ) and hopefully clear enough to be seen here. See those little people gathered at points A,B,C and D? Here's my gripe. If you're waiting at point A, then cross straight ahead to point B. Do not, I repeat , NOT, cross diagonally to point C and cut off everyone ( me ) trying to walk straight across! If you want to end up at point C, then start at point D.  It follows, of course, that if you want to finish at point B you don't start at D..... Please. If you'd like to join in with this meme, just write on Mondays about what irritates you. (on any day, not just Mondays.)

I'm royally pissed off

I shut down my computer last night as I always do and everything was fine. Late this afternoon I logged on to find my email inbox overflowing with mail. Woo-hoo! people love me1 Then I started reading......all my friends and family too, have mentioned spam emails they've been getting supposedly from me. I checked my "sent" box and there they were.  At least a dozen of them, all sent between 4.52 am and 5.23 am. I am rarely up at that hour and if I am awake, I'm reading in bed, not fooling around on the computer. These spam emails are NOT FROM ME. I'm very upset that someone has done this. I've removed all my contacts from my "contacts" box, sent out apologies to everyone I can think of, I even edited my profile here so that my email address is no longer shown. Just to add insult to injury, I'm no longer receiving emails. They're coming in, but when I open them, all I get is a blank page. WTF??? Any ideas on what I can do? I...

Sunday Selections #106

Image
Welcome back to Sunday Selections! This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs. The rules are very simple:- 1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title 2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post 3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted. The Elephant's Child is also continuing with Sunday Selections as often as she can. I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I'm continuing with some photos taken in the Botanic Gardens here in Adelaide. These photos were all taken inside the glass enclosure that houses our giant Amazon Lily. I didn't stop to check the names of these plants because it is very humid in there. I believe this may be a variety of the Ginger family. Contra...
